Been an issue since text chat was added to console, and just like you described, is the only way I’ve been able to get around the issue.
Pretty silly that this is still persisting.

more than silly, it's just such a slog lol, especially on lower end consoles, since I use the PS4 everything takes a decade to load, even these "small things"
