Source? I'd be interested in the article.
ETA: So instead of waiting for a linked source, I did a simple Google search.
CoD: WWII = 234,009 for both Xbox One and PS4 pre-orders.
Destiny 2 = 281,970 for both Xbox One and PS4 pre-orders.
The site did not include PC pre-orders, so what that number is I'm unsure. This is why cherry picking data is bad.
Not that pre-order numbers are the only tell of how good a game will or will not be. Just like movies, shows, and anything else the content is what matters, and sometimes things are hits or flops at first but over time the content will win out (or lose as the case may be).

Nice link. Also good to note this is as of July 8 and Call of Duty WWII was much farther from launch and its beta than Destiny 2 at the time. This also doesn't track digital pre-orders and digital sales are going up year after year. But really it shouldn't surprise anyone if Call of Duty WWII sells better than Destiny. Call of Duty is the best selling game every year there isn't a new GTA release.

Really it wasn't even about which game had more pre orders and which did not. It was more about OP cherry picking data to make his point. I used what I'm assuming is the same source based on the numbers he posted to point out cherry picking is B.S. I'll be playing Destiny 2 regardless of whether it's GOTY or has more or less pre-orders that Call of Duty. Cherry picking just annoys me.

There's cherry picking on purpose and then there's confirmation bias. I do think a good portion of the community wants Destiny 2 to fail to punish Bungie for their hubris. The game can be polarizing.

Confirmation bias definitely exists, but since the numbers he chose are exactly the same I feel like we had the same source. If we did have the same source then all of the numbers are right there on the same page. Some of them even one line away from each other. It's either cherry picking or laziness.
