Why would you do that when you could use them to rank up cryptarch level super quick when RoI drops and get year 3 drops from those packages? All you get from doing it now is year 2 packages (aka stuff you already have).

Because the Cryptarch doesn't give anything worth keeping from rank ups. All I ever got from him was blue
