Very strange. Black screen, but you were able to access your Inventory. When you changed equipped items it flashed Contacting Destiny Servers like it was frantically trying to inform the server of the equipment change.
I'm glad you didn't lose anything, but I think you're right and this is indeed the character-deleting error caught on camera.
I wonder what would've happened if you'd actually picked a class and made a new character at the prompt. Would it have overwritten your Warlock?

hello kauss and yes my friend as I posted above it would indeed have lead to his char. being overwritten. however, if the creation is not completed... this I don't know and have no wish to find out any time ive gone to a black screen and go to the character page I have always backed out and restarted my console

Possibly, i didn't want to find out the hard way haha. Someone in another thread has reported that one of their characters were deleted from this error.

If bungie pulls there whole "bungie is unable to restore lost characters and weapons " when in there reveal streams they have given deej, and company, weapons and armor to showcase from new, UNRELEASED, content.

That's different than restoring weapons. That isn't even on the same servers as general game play... You really think that's the same thing? Lol.
