Make two saves if you're already a werewolf if you want to go for the beast perk achievements. That's about the only tip I can give you.

If I never really use the werewolf should I still do so?

If you want the achievement without having to do another play through yes. But if you barely use the werewolf I doubt you'll use the vampire lord anymore as it's basically the same thing. I was just advising in case you're an achievement hunter.
