Finally got Dawnguard and Hearthfire
I finally was able to buy the last two Skyrim DLCs today. I already had Dragonborn, but I never really had the extra cash to buy the others before the Xbox One.
I'm glad I got 'em, but I haven't completely downloaded them yet. Any tips before I go for a nostalgia trip?

1 ReplyDon't choose team Vampire in Dawnguard. You can get the same benefits plus more if you chose team Dawnguard. Actual DLC Spoilers below! [spoiler]When you kill Harkon, Serana becomes a permanent follower and you can use her to become a Vampire Lord as well as using the crossbows you can craft from Dawnguard side missions.[/spoiler]

The crossbow is awesome, and you can still get Auriel's bow (magic bow that makes fiery explosions wherever the arrows land; shoot it at the sun and it makes the sun shoot down rays from above). You don't really get much from becoming a vampire, other than the Vampire Lord thing. Which doesn't even do that much (#LycanthropyMasterRace)

1 ReplyHearthfire was the perfect amount of base building for me. Maybe a bit more variation would be nice but i prefer the hand-crafted modular sections rather than having to construct every section of wall for myself.

Aaaah Dawnguard... Just a heads up, the soul cairn is a bit of a slog, and theres a very very lengthy dungeon at one point, but the payoff is [i]beyond[/i] worth it. You learn the fate of the Falmer. I wont say what, when, how. Just find the diary entries when the time comes :)

Dawnguard was alright, enjoyable enough to be worth the price nowadays but it is not nearly as good as Dragonborn, and Heartfire was pointless busywork IMO.
