I ran a search for "sponge" and am now necro-bumping this thread. Looks like OP didn't like the bullet sponge bosses in The Taken King either. What's surprising is that this post and it's replies were down-voted. Who on B-net would defend the Devil Walker and Sepiks Prime?

Yepp, still not a fan at all. I hope they''ll remove the sponge bosses in Destiny 2, though I guess sponge bosses kind of come with the genre.
