Anyone able to clear the dlc with a pure magic build? I heard it was tough.

  • Meh, Sunken is alright for magic users, the bosses of it on the other hand will break you, repeatedly. Moving on... Attempting to sorcery in iron king is only for the maschistic players of dark souls, everything has massive magic defense, and I haven't played winter yet, but I hear it's a bit more friendly for magic users, ignoring the invisible enemies...

  • Well I've been looking at a poison build and thinking of going that route. No idea how well it'll hold up.

  • Poison is nice for cheesing, and funny as hell in late game pvp, but most bosses can't be poisoned, and plenty of enemies have pretty high resistance, tell me what you like and I'll help suggest a potential build, Don't ask for help on stats thoe, as I struggle myself (Thus I'm asking for other players opinions on my own :'))

  • Honestly I don't know. I'm kinda getting bored with magic and the giant str weapons don't appeal to me. A dex build sounded good but I also wanted poisons. So I'm kinda at a point of no idea

  • Pyromancie is always fun with a dex wep, and you don't even need to scale your int/fth as it's damage scales with how high level your flame is.

  • Actually it scales off both. The glove and faith or int.

  • A heavy magic build can be VERY useful later in the game

  • Any idea If there is a way I can keep a magic build but be able to take stuff down decently? I tried toying with a melee build and it's just too much of a pain for me now.

If you are heavily into magic, use an enchantment infusion on your weapon. It will make it do physical damage instead of magical, meaning it can work well with the moonlight greatsword, but the special attack will do 0 damage. However, if you have your lowest stat at close to 20, I suggest infusing a weapon with mundane, as it reduces base damage, but makes it scale like crazy with your lowest stat.

  • Wut? You'd want to make it scale with int through a magic stone infusion to maximize magic damage. Doing raw infusion kills every weapon except santier's spear.

  • Well, if magic damage sucks in the dlc, may as well use the int to boost physical damage. Raw infusion does work for some weapons, but not all.

  • I'm not entirely sure, pretty much all magic is kinda weak against the dlcs.

  • Geez...can you wield a weapon that scales with magic and it do good dmg? Was thinking of still going high int and faith and maybe try to add in some vit, str, and dex, to get a good weapon that scales. I'm not entirely sure how to do this. I've never used a weapon that scaled with faith or int.

  • Look up "moonlight greatsword" I imbued mine with magic and it scales s with intelligence. Very good heavy attack too.
