For collectors more space is needed. If a warlock collects a set of every armour avail that's vog, Crota, 2 van, 2 do, 2 nm, 2 fwc, Queen and ib that's 12 sets plus all the exotics. If each toon collects all of this you have 2 full sets per toon in the vault plus 27 exotics. There isn't roominthe vault for all of this loot. The game is loot based so why wouldn't we want to keep it all. These numbers don't take into consideration the new how gear which is one more set per vendor and the raid and more exotics. Adding 4 slots just doesn't allow us to collect all we want.

Luke Smith stated that one of the things HoW will grant is more flexibility with gear to be able to have perks that fit your style, so if you like Hand Cannons you may be able to have raid gear designed to favor them (faster reload, more ammo, etc.). If this is true then having redundant gear is well...redundant. Collecting every single armor set just for the sake of having them is a compulsive, no offense. Specific pieces to augment specific loadouts is one thing, but just hoarding gear for the hell of it makes no sense, especially when as I said, the majority of people don't even use what they "collect". What you NEED should be more important than what you WANT.

Your argument would make more sense if the game was progressive towards beating the game ie. Mario bros. you have a decimate goal and a conclusive ending. We would then be aiming to beat the final boss. In destiny it is a game to experience and the reward is the loot. You are advocating deleting the rewards we cover and play for. Just because I don't need these items today doesn't mean I might not in later dlc and if I worked towards obtaining my rewards I certainly don't want to delete them. Personally I want both raid sets, all exotics and one set of faction gear so I should be ok for a bit. But others who play more have loftier targets based on how they play. A loot based system that doesn't allow me to keep all my loot is disappointing

Letting go of obsolete items is common practice in MMOs. In WoW, you were forced to replace your entire armor set and weapons in order to tackle new content, you weren't afforded the option of upgrading like we do with Exotics. That should always be the exception in Destiny, as the exotics are the game changing items of the game. Everything else is all stepping stones. I will rock my 75% Iron Banner gear and exotic helm until I get the new raid gear, to which the IB gear goes in the vault...but that is the only gear I would vault because of it's rarity. Faction/Vendor gear is expendable, especially when it's completely replaced every DLC. Only the class items are worth keeping indefinitely, as I feel those items are the mark of a player's tenure. If it's truly something rare, then and only then is it worth keeping...and that's enough to fill in the vault with room to spare for the average player.

Edited by Justin_giver: 3/27/2015 6:54:42 PMExcept we can't get s straight answer on the possibility of being able to upgrade any armour set to the new light lvl. I'd be pretty pissed if I deleted my out of date gear and then they change the game to be able to upgrade it. Also, bungie has said this isn't an mmo. Until we know exactly what bungie will the players are not sure what rules we are playing with and we cannot plan for the future.

I see no reason why they would do that. Even if they did, I'm sure they would implement some alternate way of obtaining it. Most don't seem to realize that this game is constantly changing, that it is progressive... They want you to go with the flow. It has its boons and it has its flaws, but it is how the game is.

The reason is that many people want to have options to look different. That was a big proponent to the game. Each guardian being unique. It's hard to be unique when you have everyone wearing exactly the same gear that gets you to the lvl cap. If bungie came out and said hey everyone we will never have a way to upgrade gear you will always need to obtain the newest gear to be at the highest lvl cap I think more gear would be deleted.

Plausible. I'm with you that all gear should have options. Even if they don't make it so that old gear can be upgraded, I believe some change is necessary. If anything, I thought that weapon and armor shaders is a great way to add variety. And concerning the upgraded old stuff, I'm under the impression that the reason they don't just say one or the other is because it is a possibility. They don't want to break the neutrality and start saying things they can't live up to.

Well said. By telling us one way or the other we are armed with definitive info. By being vague we must make decisions with long reaching ramifications
