They're probably defensive because everyone judges and condemns them for what they're doing. If I were to compare people who complain about smokers vs the smokers who complain about being condemned for the habit, the nonsmokers would far outweigh the smokers.

Granted one can be an asshole about smoking, generally I believe smokers are pretty courteous about not exposing others to their smoke. Op wants to talk teens.. teenagers are nearly all entitled shitheads lol. The answer he wants is in his own post.
