... Are the teams I been in just suck? Seriously, spent 6 hours in various groups trying to beat the damn last boss and its really pissing me off. Last attempt was everyone but me at 31, I'm at 30, and we only got him a little over halfway dead. The small window to drop his shields and the swordbearer to strike then get away is what tripped us up the most. Anyone else having similar issues or manage to get around them and what did you do?

Two things that may help.. A single sniper stays up top to kill left side boomers, carrier ALWAYS GOES UP TO CROTA LEFT SIDE. Second when the sword drops all primary weapon fire (shock preferable) on crota till carrier gets near, carrier then calls FUL DPS and you all switch to secondary and unload sniper(icebreaker awesome for this) then he will take hits and stand.. DO NOT FIRE till the gold shield disappears as he is immune then Rockets as shield is vulnerable again followed by anything you got left in the tank. Rinse repeat Downed him 4 times last night, it's all about good communication

It was pretty difficult beating him because we needed to get the timing down with our sword bearer. But after about 20 wipes we finally killed him. My advice to you is use rockets on the second time you're trying to get him down and kill the sword bearer quickly as possible. Also have one guy work on the boomers. We did the middle below technique where we stayed in that room, I was outside ontop sniping boomers. It's important to call out what percentage Crotas shields are at, when it's about 25% the sword bearer should be jumping up to hit Crota.
-
3 RepliesBasically your doing it wrong you need to have one guy with icebreaker sniping the knights on the ledge on the outside of the crystal room everyone else needs to be in hallway below that room you need to get his shields down twice with every sword and get at least 2 to 3 hits on each down wait till he is in middle you will figure it out I gr it beat 4 times now
-
He's that hard. The enrage timer isn't helping either.
-
2 RepliesI have about 12 hours shooting at him. Finally got him, but it's 200% group dependent.
-
3 RepliesYou have to have a set team: 2 people shooting boomers ( Knights ) preferable people with ice breakers. They can also DPS on Crota for a brief time to lower shields. This is their only job! It's important they stay focused on this one task. 1 sword runner. This person holds the chalice unless others need it. Their entire job is to get the sword and beat Crota with it 3 the remaining 3 people help shoot thrulls and down the sword-bearer. Once the sword-bearer is down they DPS on Crota. They call out when Crota is at 1/4 shields so the sword runner can be right there as Crota starts to kneel. Additional notes: - You want to get 2 sessions of hitting Crota per sword. - wait till Crota is middle to kill the sword-bearer - after every 2nd sword-bearer orges come and you want to run lower middle. - missing one session beating Crota with the sword is NOT a wipe. You usually have 1 extra session with the sword before he enrages. Since my team and I have adopted this method we have beat Crota twice. It's all about people doing a single job.
-
If you ever need a sword guy hit me up. I always, no matter what, take his health down to half or more than half before the first waves of ogres come :D
-
Nah it's not hard at all with the right team. Level doesn't matter as much as knowledge of the mechanics of the fight. A little more experience and you will get it no problem. I beat him 6 times last week and twice this morning.
-
Bad teams. Sorry man. We just beat it last night with only 1 31. Consider this if its a group of all 31s they're most likely bad because you only need 1 to beat it fairly easily.
-
Edited by SuBpeRBzSkiLLz: 12/16/2014 5:22:10 PMYou really just need a team that has their set roles and are good at their role.

I spent 20 hours this weekend trying to take down crota and time and time again we failed.....it was disheartening to say the least. Last night we tried again and had crota down to a sliver of health. The sword bearer came out and we immediately started to bring him down because the "crota is about to enrage" just popped up on the screen. We killed the sword bearer swiftly and I went to grab the sword and went up on the rocks and immediately called out to drop crota, as soon as I got onto the middle platform crota started sprinting to the right side. Fear started to sink in as I felt another wipe impending but then I got an idea, I shouted "shoot everything you have at him" as he was standing on the right side and I took my hunter and leapt into the middle abyss using my sword to swing across and reach the right platform just as crota was about to take a kneel. I then hurled my blade into him for one final swift strike and he was finished......probably the most gratifying achievement I've had in this game to date. Stay in there buddy, you'll eventually take him down. cheers

It's pretty simple the final boss fight is. 2 focus on the nights, everyone else hammer the Swordbearer. When the sword is dropped, the fastest Guardian grabs it and hides underneath the ledge Crota's on while everyone else hammer him to drop his shield. Sword holder swoops in, gets his shots in and escapes when the sword disappears. Rinse, repeat...run from the occasional Ogres. But as is the case in video games, where 90% of people would rather do things there own way, the execution of it is never easy. Just keep at it. Hopefully you find a group worth it's salt of ADULTS willing to learn the roles, work together and get the fight finished rather then kids who rage because the team is continually getting Hive -blam!-.

Finished him in 15 mins yesterday :)
Got the Song of IR Yut, [Machine gun}
Edited by Whatson2k: 12/16/2014 4:45:02 AMU need to get a team of 6 guys play well... VoG 1 person can suck and it works... But 1 mistake or a noob = wipe. Every person should know whats happend there and whats his role

It's all about timing and finding a good team that you will gel with. Once you find that your gold.

2 RepliesCrota is to easy...I want a challenging raid
-
Edited by Yeasty Quadge: 12/15/2014 10:53:51 PMI went through a similar thing, was trying for hours with different teams. Did it eventually with the team that suck together the longest. Think it takes a while for everyone to get there role right in a team, as it's slightly different every-time due to weapons, levels, skill gaps ect.
-
Timing. We with sword needs to be blade dancer. He jumps on to rock, he says go and jumps up onto platform, 2 members with ice breaker or any good sniper shoot Knights up too, other 3 shoot rockets to drop his shied, he needs to be holo tying Crota with sword as he goes down. You can't wait for the team to dip his shield then jump up there. Not enough hits.

2 RepliesEdited by KSI MySTiiQuE: 12/15/2014 4:18:17 PMIt's all about the timing and teamwork, also make sure the sword holder is a level 31. (Beaten him on all three of my characters, without a g-horn twice) The number one problem I've seen is death. You waste to much time when someone dies, but you can recover if you know what you are doing. If you need help I will be on at 3 eastern :) Fastest time I've seen is below, perhaps it will help you.

Trust me... Took me tons of random teams to defeat Crota... None of the put in work. So I finally got a team that we beat Crota less than 10 minutes. Took the video of it and post it YouTube... Then we went to raid VoG on hard just to celebrate our wuick CE raid. In VoG we -blam!- atheon just like that in our new Crota shader. We all looked badass with our shaders and Crota emblems

2 RepliesFrom our many wipes and two clears I've learned some important things: 1. Calling out is extremely important. The guy holding the sword should call out when he wants the team to fire. The guy who is confident in putting in the last shot which will break Crota's shield should call out to the sword holder. (E.g: a level 31 using Gjallahorn should call out when he fires a rocket while Crota is at 33% shields). Thus it is important to know how much damage you can do. 2. Don't anticipate when people are going to drain Crota's shield. (E.g: don't call out to the sword holder when he's at 33% EXPECTING a Gjallahorn rocket from someone else to break it. Oftentimes, said rocket doesn't materialise because of reload, out of ammo, etc.) 3. Attacking only when Crota just moves back to the center is the least risky position/time to attack him at. You don't want to attack him at the sides because it's difficult for the sword bearer to escape and get back up for a second attack (also, Boomer Knights may kill him). You don't want Crota to start running just as you pick up the sword, it's a huge waste of potential damage). 4. Watch those for damn Boomer Knights. They'll be the ones killing your teammates most of the time.

Team sucks. I honestly beat croata twice with people who didn't even fight croata before, they were just good players. It's that simple
-
Communication is key. Get a team that you are friends with. Build new friends. Try to join a clan. This is the only way you will finish it the first week it's out.
-
If you are able to down him twice the first 2 times, you'll get at least 5 total hits 3 the first and 2 the second then its cake after that and play it safe
