How are Cryptarchs not legit?
So I keep reading posts where peeps think that Cryptarchs aren't a legit way to get exotics. That they should be exclusive to raids, strikes, bounties and pvp tourneys. Why? What's wrong with the occasional rare drop after wiping out a squad of Fallen/Cabal/Hive/Vex? Speaking from a story point of view these guys have been raiding the Galaxy for centuries their Captains SHOULD have rare earth swag in there pockets just for kicks!

I think the cryptarch is awesome. Very good idea. A buddy of mine got a Plan C during the beta. And it was a gift for hitting lvl 5 or 6

30 RepliesEdited by DSmoke: 8/5/2014 4:51:32 PMI havent seen these threads, but im assuming what they are butt hurt about is that some people got exotic gear by turning in an uncommon engram, i only got a bunch of rare gear and one legendary from it, but a few people got exotic gear from a green engram or so i have read. Some people think that if an engram is a certain color then that should be what you get from it. I really like that its random and the color only affects a chance system from the cryptarch, sure it might be frustrating to get a white piece from an engram that should be better but thats the breaks. i personally plan to get all of my exotic gear from the agent of the nine vendor, i like what he has to offer.

I would prefer that instead of legendary engrams he gave rare engrams until level 12 or so. *My preference*

I did everthing this beta had to offer several times,and I got my cryptacrch to lvl 21 and only got a dead orbit legendary hand canon XD. its all luck, also there are some exclusive to pvp and raids.

PERSONALLY, I think that the cryptarch in the beta only gave legendries and exotics to us just to tease us with what's to come in the September. I honestly don't want to see anyone getting exotics from them unless its when they've actually maxed out the rank lol. But I don't mind seeing legendries if you get luck and not as a guaranteed loot.

3 RepliesI feel that the coolest exotics will be the ones we know are behind specific and difficult challenges that must be overcome by friends. Being mildly suprised when you yank the lever and an Exotic comes rolling out of the Cryptarch is a fun experience, but pales in comparison to what Exotics should be used to leverage. It's not hurting the game neccessarily, as long as there are a variety of ways to obtain Exotics the game will ultimately be fine, I just think we can do better than RNG...

I have a sneaking suspicion that the exotics we've seen thus far are just the tip of the iceberg. I also suspect that the stuff we'll earn in Raids & other endgame activities will be completely wackadoo compared to what we've seen.

1 ReplyI can only think of those people as the "MLGpro1337" crowd; the people who think if you don't have the time or "skill" to torture yourself, you don't deserve to have the same fun stuff they do. Honestly, the ones who talk about Raids and Bounties or whatever make no sense to me: what's the difference between lucking out at the Cryptarch and, say, looking up how to get Exotics on YouTube? I love that Exotics can be obtained at the Cryptarch. Luck is just as important as practical skill in my eyes. And that's the point: people are whining about just the fact that you can get Exotics from the Cryptarch, and ignoring that you have to be really lucky to actually get one.

I agree. Most people were a bit bootybothered because of the frequency of rare drops, however things like that were buffed for the beta only. Those uncommons won't drop nearly as frequently in the full game, methinks.

I love the cryptarch. The thrill of getting a good item after hours of gameplay, turning into almost an inventory of en grams hoping just one is a good item... I love it
