30 is 30
Well, now its been three days since Iron Banner was out and we are seeing more level 30s before the DLC comes out. It also seems that there is a lot of flaming of the Iron Banner level 30s as somehow we were gifted level 30, even though we had to grind through Crucible for hours.
Could it be that these "real" level 30s are envious of those who succeeded in the Iron Banner because they could not do it themselves? The reason I ask this is some of these trolls have horrific crucible records and would explain why they have a disdain towards the Iron Banner. I mean, if I sucked at something, I would make up excuses to not do it either, just human nature.
[spoiler]I am no means a good PvP player and doing Iron Banner was great because it took me out of my comfort zone and was forced to learn a new gametype. IMO, a true level 30 is one that can succeed in the Raid and have endured the Iron Banner. That is the full Destiny experience... that Bungie intended ;-) But 30 is 30 no matter how you cut it![/spoiler]

1 ReplyI'm shit at PvP. I still took my Hunter to level 5 and bought the Iron Banner items because I don't want all three of my characters to be wearing the same armour set. That's boring.

1 ReplyI didn't know lvl 30 had exclusivity. What if I want to wear the Iron Banner armor just because I like how it looks? I have the raid gear (Except for Helm, but -blam!- that shit I have the exotic helms that I actually like). Am I a fake lvl 30 just because I like super soldier armor instead of space pirate boots? Oh the intelligence of some people here is beyond salvation. I am lvl 30 like it or not. You "Real" Lvl 30s are just jelly belly because we 29s managed to hit that number without tackling the raid on hard.... No, you are jelly belly because we didn't have to tolerate the bullshit of RNGesus while you had to sell your very own soul just to get the raid armor, while we grinded the crucible for a couple of hours, gathered some glimmer, and bought the shite. I will admit this.... I PURCHASED LVL 30 FOR MY TITAN! It wasn't gifted to me by the all powerful RNGesus. Good day to you sir/ Ma'am.

I'll keep saying what I've been saying: Iron Banner didn't hand people level 30. You still need at least 1 piece of Raid armor to hit 30.

ಠ_ರೃ Quite the contrary good sir. I witnessed a most terrible event recently that has led to beleive there are indeed fake 30s! The other day I was minding my own business when a lowly 29 had the audacity of thinking I would ever let him raid with me, much less speak to me. Obviously after a good 10 minutes of switching around several armor pieces infront of him to show just how many ways I was level 30; no matter what my attire, I sent him on his way to do whatever it is those sorts do when unsupervised. However, but a few days later, I was appauled to see that same savage posing as a level 30. And to make things worse he actually helped some of the commonfolk try to do the same, giving them sort of preposterous sense of hope they may one day be one of us! Ridiculous! So I caution all the true 30s to be vigilant for these filthy savage level 29s posing as if they were one of us! Trust no one...

I have all the raid gear and still wanted the armor from IB. I don't know why people are making such a big deal about how you get to level 30. If you get to level 30 then you are a level 30. I play way to much but I know how hard it is to get raid gear some time. So at least there will be more level 30's to run the raid with.

I agree with 30 being 30. I've beaten the raid numerous times on both difficulties and gotten 1 armor piece, a couple of special weapons, too many chatterwhites, and mainly shards/energies. I also play crucible a lot because I love the unpredictable (sometimes) players that keep me challenged. I think the main arguments root from the players who are strictly PVP or PVE because if they played both regularly, they would understand both require teamwork/communication, can be extremely time consuming and are NOT simple (except for the occasional map exploitation... Applies to both). The only thing that sets raid armor apart from glimmer purchased is the experience of shitty roulette. At the same time though you could say the same about crucibles reward system. I've gotten 6000+ points in IB matches and been game mvp only to be reward less and see the lowest guy get a legendary hand cannon so... Let's not bitch at each other or how we've put our time into a half assed (at times) game and focus on the real enemy here. (Insert enemy)

2 RepliesThey didn't earn it anymore than they did, they maybe ran the raid twice and had a full set just fall into their lap, maybe they ran it 15 times and finally got lucky. It's all RNG, does a player "earn" it if they went from 25 to 30 after one run? No. The only difference with the IB gear is we KNEW what the prize would be, so we grinded for hours to get it. Time wise and play wise its harder to get IB gear then Raid gear. And we have to deal with whiners and kids and Nerf preachers all day. So if anyone says I haven't earned my level 30 I'll go, UP YOURS BUDDY!!. Anyway, who cares? It's not as if level 30 shows ski or experience, it shows how lucky you are. In fact the grimoire score of player is a better measure of experience than level.

Honestly I don't care how ANYONE has their 30. If you are a 30 and want to hard raid, its cool with me. That extra damage is worth having, even if you've never done the raid on hard. Anyone can be taught what to do. Bungie provided two ways for people to get to a 30. And if you have to grind IB to get your gear, SO WHAT. If I had not got lucky on some Raid RNGsus, I would be playing nothing but IB to get my 30 so I could better help my Raid buddies on hard.

I didn't feel like I "earned" IB gear either, just played with a fireteam and steamrolled everyone. Plus raid gear bonuses appeal more to me, and I got all of that first anyway.

14 RepliesWhy does it matter. Apart from the level specific missions level 30 has no bearing on anything related to skill. Congrats on your 30 dude but i really dont see what the fuss is about. I will max out at 29, my warlock is already maxed & just my other 2 to go, i wont be attempting 30 because i dont play raids or pvp. it doesnt matter what anyone thinks as long as you are happy, enjoy.

I know what you mean. I after a shit ton of raids have been stuck on needing gauntlets I actually deleted a level 25 hunter to run the raid twice more a week. In comes the iron banner alls I need is the gauntlets, I hate pvp but it has forced me out of my comfort zone. The amount accumulated in iron banner to reach rank four for my gauntlets equals a bunch of raids. So for people to say that we are cheap for gaining level 30 by using iron banner is just upset because they won't feel as unique. Let's clear this up rank 30 is not skill it's luck. Yes does it take some skill to run through the vault every week, yes to an extent. The loot system however isn't based on skill it's based on RNG so therefore 30 isn't skill it's luck. Even on iron banner if you stick it out long enough either win or loss you'll eventually rank up if you do bounties as well. Now if the vex mythoclast was able to be bought via the iron banner I can see why people would be bitching because that is the trophy for the hard mode raid. Level 30 is not.

Ran IB exclusively for what seemed like forever. Rank 4 was no joke IMO. I felt outclassed in Iron Banner. Sure, there were plenty of "not good" people (including me) in IB, but the good ones were REALLY good. I generally hold my own in Crucible, not a world beater, but generally middle of the pack. IB felt different. Much more difficult, especially random teams. Some ran well, most were chaotic. My work schedule and home duties prevent me from running the raid on Tuesday, which is when most of the people I know, across 3 clans, run it. Most of my time is spent solo grinding. This was the only way I was gonna hit 30. Feels legit to me. I don't plan on hopping into a hard raid though. I need way more runs on normal, relic practice... Etc. But, if people wanna look down on my 30 because I have IB gear, I can't stop them. I just don't care what they think. I put time in, just like everyone else. Plus it's only one loadout. If I go Sunsinger with Sunbreakers gauntlets, I won't be 30 because I don't have another helm with enough light to get there.

Let's be honest, if players complain about not true 30s then that's just sad. As I bet most 30s have second characters to run through the raids which class is identical to their 30 So isn't that not a true 30 either ???

1 ReplyI was lvl 30 before iron banner and I still lvled to IB lvl 5. Now I just have cool new armor to wear and still be 30. Idk why so many people don't understand that 30 is 30. I was excited for iron banner so all of my friends who have been stuck at 29 for weeks could finally be 30.
