Is the 200 Bank Limit on Legendary Marks in TTK to small?

Yes.

Without a weekly cap, bank size doesn't mater.

Is the 200 Bank Limit on Legendary Marks in TTK to small? Across 3 characters, with 200 Vanguard marks and 200 Crucible marks on each, our bank in year 1 allows for the purchase of up to 6 legendary weapons at any moment without grinding anything additionally. The new bank will limit this to just 1 weapon according to the first Bungie stream in which prices where set at 150 marks. Sure, there is not a weekly cap to legendary marks in year 2 and the bank is shared across characters in the same way as glimmer. Also, you can buy legendary weapons with glimmer once a week from the gunsmith in year 2, assuming you've completed the other various requirements. When answering the poll keep in mind that unlike the old marks, the new marks will be used for more things than the old marks such as weapon upgrades. Do these things, in your opinion, offset the major reduction in the buying power of your maximum bank account size? EDIT: This poll has been up a few days now and it seems 0 people have made an argument supporting the bank size limit of 200. Some players (myself included), obviously, support the idea of unlimited marks earning in the removal of a weekly cap. That said, The question is related to bank size mostly separate from unlimited earning per week. In regards to bank size alone a 200 mark limit is not better than what we have currently. No one has argued that unlimited earning isn't better than our currently limited weekly earning. I encourage players to consider the weekly cap and bank size issues separately. One way to think about it is if they reduced the cost of glimmer items with the most expensive glimmer item set to 1500 would you be OK with a bank glimmer limit of 2000? I think this is a pretty good analogy. I, for one, would not be happy in that scenario. How about you?

  • Honestly, I'm kind of in the middle of it being too small and it doesn't matter because there's no weekly limit. I'm the kind of person who looks before I buy anything in a game, which means I'll likely either not buy much of anything or I'll buy one or two things and then never buy anything again. I very rarely bought anything from the vendors that I didn't need to buy for a quest or something

spend em and go get more, I don't see the big deal. Its not like its capped at 200 a week. I don't get why they didn't make the 3 characters separate though (does make the grind a little more annoying).

    • It is way too low. The lowest I would be happy with is 400, and that still seems a bit low.

The cap is low. The grind for 150 marks (cost of an exotic) is as follows: Assuming the legendary mark rewards remain at 6 for strikes and 6 for a Crucible WIN, then you would have to grind out 25 strikes and/or win a minimum of 25 Crucible matches to afford an exotic. If you win 50% of your games in Crucible, that would be 30 Crucible matches. Daily heroics give 5 marks (currently) and you get a few more than that for the Nightfall and Weekly. You can also earn (about 4?) for a public event. Translation: the grind will be real and you'll need to go spend those marks when you accumulate enough.

        • I'm going to say yes, if things are going to cost 150-175 marks, then it's take a while to actually buy what you want to buy, on the other hand if stud is going to be cheap - (highly unlikely) then 200 marks is all good.. I'm not really going to get into it until it's released as the majority of chatter on here the last few days has been hear say, and observations. Have a great day all the sun is out and it's reset day.

        • It wouldn't be if it wasn't shared across all characters but with 200 per account it might be too few.

          • No. Because there may be a 200 point limit, but you can get infinite legendary marks. So if you hit the limit just spend some marks then go back to getting more marks

            • You can only hold a small amount to force you to play more now since there's no limit to how many a week you can get.

Considering the fact that we can earn an infinite amount of marks but only carrying 200 across all character, I'd say it's not enough but we don't know how they work with the economy. I don't know how much you'll have to pay for vendor gear but I think the Cryptarch sells for about 10 per engram, we also don't know how much requires you to pay marks either. So we may end up paying just as much for these exotics as we will for anything else which may cause a very strong deficiency of these marks by people trying to purchase several things. If the amount of marks earned are increased as well that will prevent this from happening as well as relieving most of the tedium but still leaving the work and a healthy amount of grinding. I don't like the whole shared wallet with the glimmer and I like it even less with these new marks because as you said, I now only hold a large fraction of what I could hold now. I think the cap if way too small for a shared wallet

                • I think that the question that really matters is: "What's the grind to get to 200?" If it's run 5-8 strikes and a couple of bounties, then that's fine. But, if the value of the strikes and bounties drop, so we're having to to 10-20 strikes and 8-10 bounties on top of that, then there is going to be an issue. That's a week worth of playing for some of us "casuals".

                  • Personally I don't mind too much since the weekly cap is gone. However if they were to increase the cap to 250 or 300 I would be totally cool with that. :)

                  • The currency caps are about prolonging limited content, nothing more.

                  • Personally I don't think it's too much of an issue just because it takes quite a bit of playtime to get 200 marks; you're likely to go to the tower several times before you reach 200 so you can spend them while you're there. As for an actual reason to cap them at 200, maybe Bungie is just stingy and thought they'd save some space on their servers by storing all your marks in a single byte (unlikely but I wouldn't be surprised).

                    • Hey. They have to do something to artificially pad playtime due to lack of meaningful content. At least, that's all we've seen so far. TTK looks good, but I've been burned before by jumping on the Destiny hype-train.

                      • In split between yes and it doesn't matter. I would have like them to bump it to at least 400 especially since it's shared by all three characters, but at the same time, without the weekly cap, I can just spend them and then re earn some more. I'm not overly fussed about it.

                        • The cap is in place to prevent people from being able to immediately acquire too much new gear when a DLC drops. Specifically the jack asses that run three of the same class. It annoys me to share marks since I run all classes. Bungie should just start binding armor to a specific character. Problem solved.

                          • Your math needs help. Yes right now we can have 200 vanguard marks and 200 crucible marks per character. But the limit is 100 vanguard 100 crucible per week per character so 600 total not 1200. New system as many as you want to earn in any event per week. I don't know about anyone else. But it was very annoying to run iron banner and have your 100 crucible marks maxed by IB rank 3. So you lost all the marks from ranks 4 and 5. Not to mention the new exotic quests. Remember a quest complete 25 strikes? If you did all 25 strikes in a week. You lost 50 marks plus 10 for your weekly strike and depending on the daily strikes 40 or 50 more marks a week. Wallet size being more would only matter if you don't keep an eye on it. Old system 600 a week per account period. New system as many as you play for no matter which character or pve/PvP.

                            • Marks and Glimmer limit should double to 400/50k. This limit is just another artificial grind requiring trips to the tower.

                            • The fact that I can earn unlimited marks per week makes the 200 (at a time) cap fine for me.

                              • Putting a cap on the marks is to stop people hoarding marks and buying everything when something new comes out. Is it an inconvenience? A little perhaps. I would say that unlimited mark earning and shared marks outweigh the inconvenience of having to go back now and then. If anything I would suggest a compromise in maximum increase to 300 marks.

                                • Well on the one side it's pretty damn sweet to earn unlimited marks. On the other hand you have to go back to the tower more often in terms of spending the marks. Depending on how many marks u get for specific activities it's either ok or obnoxious... We also have to mention that we need to figure out first for what we will spend our marks. Shall it be a upgraded exotic or equipment from the vendors since we have to get to lvl 40 before we can use it. Of course this wouldn't take long and so we come back to the problem in the beginning. If we were able to store let's say 600 marks we could farm them longer and buy us a set of items at once. But does it make a difference to buy them one by one or all at once? The only difference is that you have to take a stop at the tower more often which means more time in loading screen and waiting. (Good thing?) Maybe if they let us buy things from the vendors literally on the fly, there would be no problem. I also think there should be more glimmer capacity since I'm on cap for months without knowing what to spend it on. After HOW I ran out pretty quickly for upgrading and stuff on all three characters (one of each class). If I had more I wouldn't have had this problem. So there should be at least 50k glimmer capacity for ppl with multiple characters or 25k each. The current system sux for ppl with more than one character. It's just bullshit that you want to play and get stuff but at the same time knowing that you can't earn more glimmer which would help upgrading with the next dlc. In my personal matter I ended up stacking 5k bounties and wait for TTK because there's no point doing anything other than weekly activities....

Also remember that ur old marks will turn to comendations which will give u faction packages.... and that's per character... so ur going to have a lot of armor before u even start playing...
