Personally I don't think it's too much of an issue just because it takes quite a bit of playtime to get 200 marks; you're likely to go to the tower several times before you reach 200 so you can spend them while you're there. As for an actual reason to cap them at 200, maybe Bungie is just stingy and thought they'd save some space on their servers by storing all your marks in a single byte (unlikely but I wouldn't be surprised).

 • Interesting.... At what rate do you think you're going to earn marks in comparison to before TTK, faster, slower. the same? Funny idea about using a single byte.

 • I would assume the same rate as now, although you'll reach the cap three times as fast now that it's shared between all characters. That said I certainly wouldn't oppose a higher cap, it's just that there's no time pressure to get the marks like there is with glimmer. Grinding the Exclusion Zone in the middle of Iron Banner was awful.

 • OK. From some things seen in early TTK videos I've seen 10 or more marks being given at once. This makes me think it'll be possible to earn marks quicker than players can currently. Also, if the rate was the same for earning marks I'm not sure " you'll reach the cap three times as fast now that it's shared between all characters" is accurate. The current mark cap across 3 characters and all marks is 1200 total or 600 a week. So the (weekly) soft cap would be 3 times more marks and the hard cap would be 6 times more marks than the incoming cap. Even with 1/3 fewer marks it would take you less than 1/3 the time to hit the cap (assuming the same earn rate) as it currently takes time to switch characters, and that isn't required in TTK. I think we will find the 200 bank mark cap in TTK at least as bad as the glimmer cap. Imagine if Bungie requires marks for the new IB gear, yikes!!!

 • Ah. You're right, I should have taken the old cap into account. If we can earn marks that quickly 200 probably won't cut it, it'll be filling up in the middle of strike or crucible grinding all the time. Hopefully people will complain enough to get it changed, that seems to work. It wouldn't even cost them anything to raise it to 2000, that'd be one more byte per player and that's nothing compared to the vault. Marks for Iron Banner gear might not actually be too bad if the prices were reasonable, at least you can earn lots of those while playing it.

 • We might be on to something.... Marks for IB gear, I mean. I wonder what they should cost?

 • Yeah I'd love to stop hoarding glimmer items in the vault, could be nice if done right. Hopefully it would cost less than regular vendor gear due to the limited time it's available. Don't think they'd like us being able to buy everything at once though - maybe 40 for armour and special/heavy weapons, 50 for primaries and 20 for cosmetics? That could be a bit steep, hard to say until we know exactly how quickly you earn marks.
