Learn The Difference Haters

Okay...for every whiny self-important brat out there complaining the game is too short... There is an ENORMOUS difference in the game play of an MMO vs a shooter that happens to have multiplayer maps. HUGE! An MMO is NOT the place to go for epic storylines that take you two and three weeks to conquer. An MMO is designed to be an enormous environment that has been created to be explored OUTSIDE the realm of the storyline. It's also meant to be a social realm, not just a solo player world. WTF are you doing buying an MMO (Massive MULTIPLAYER Online) game in the first place you freaking dumbass? You want to play with yourself for long periods of time, rent a porn and buy some lotion, but don't bring your self-entitled "This game wasn't made just for me to spend time with ME." attitude around and broadcast idiotic garbage on the forums. Frankly, anyone claiming that the storyline of an MMO is too short is clearly ignorant to what an MMO is supposed to be, and your opinion instantly drops into the whiny little moron bucket to be dumped directly down the toilet. MMO does NOT equal game + multiplayer maps. **Edit. I have already conceded that Destiny is not an MMO. I was wrong and have said so. I'm leaving my post as it is because I'm lazy. From what I can see in this response thread...I am not alone. :-D

  •
MMO does NOT equal game + multiplayer maps.
And Destiny does NOT equal MMO...seriously, look it up- " The game's style has been described as a first-person shooter that will incorporate massively multiplayer online game (MMO) elements, but Bungie has avoided defining Destiny as a traditional MMO game.[13] Instead, the game has been referred to as a "shared-world shooter,"[14] as it lacks many of the characteristics of a traditional MMO game" If you are gonna get on here and rage, at least get your facts straight...

      • I don't care what anybody says, I'm still calling it an FPS MMO. And if you want flame on it, flame. I invested enough time on "real" MMO titles to know the differences, and it is what it is. I mean really, we're gonna start micromanaging genres? "shared-world shooter"? How many sub-genres of RTS do they have now, like 10? I'm 29, and my entire gaming career boils down to RTS, FPS, MMO, RTS, Turn Based, Platformer. That's it. And Destiny JUST launched. There is SO much growing room. So it doesn't have the social capability of WoW... From that perspective, incorporate WoW into a console. Or, accept that the social possibilities can only progress upward, instanced group content, raiding, PvP/PvE, clan recruiting, farming, open-world adventuring, dailies. Oh I almost forgot, the random patrols missions. I'm sorry, does WoW offer randomly generated quests to keep you occupied at end game? Day 1, Destiny felt awesome, and the fact that Bungie is dedicating to bringing us more and more content and improvements in such a rush will not disappoint in the least. If you don't like it, by all means, don't play it. You won't be the first person butt hurt over a game to rage quit. Just means I have a better chance of finding random people out there who actually want to play the content provided.

      • Destiny is not an MMO. Not even..... It makes sense that people are upset that there is not enough launch content. There really is a shortage in the "things to do that aren't repetitive" department. You need to settle down a significant bit and really analyze what you are doing when playing the game. It has phenomenal gameplay, enemies, and scenery, there is simply too little content to play through. The best feeling is walking into a new place to explore and play missions In, but at some point you have thoroughly explored and exhausted the missions. There needs to be more areas per planet and more unique missions per area. Trying to form the game around the definition if a genre is a poor choice, especially when this game is not at all what you say it is. 3 man fire teams and a few extra random people ingame that you don't talk to is not at all like an MMO.

Its just too bad that bungie included last gen with this game I could of seen destiny being a much bigger and better experience if it wasnt for them being included but oh well hopefully next game it be current gen only one can hope..

Your entire third paragraph is incorrect and blindly stated. There is plenty of MMOs with a great storyline and a massive immersive world that not only follows the story but also outside the story. Clearly shows you aren't an experienced MMO player and besides destiny is not an MMO it just borrowed some of its elements. Also right now destiny is not very social at all i dont have manu friends on ps4 that wants this game so im kinda just by myself most of the time. Is anything you say factual?

              • It's more of a shared world fps. And it definitely does have mmo qualitys and that's what I think gets people. Lots of fps players don't play mmo's
