In HS football, a 230 pound linebacker stomped (accidentally) on my right foot during practice. My big toe broke, and also resulted in blood building up under the nail. After a week and a little crafty work, I was able to drain the blood from my nail by essentially drilling a hole in it with a small needle. The nail basically died, and fell off. I didn't have a big toe nail for about 6 months. The skin under your nails is incredibly sensitive to anything, for those who don't know.
