It never turned on for me.
Also it shouldnt be something you should have to turn on, it should be automatic. You should only have to turn it off or mute other players

They did it right. If you want to chat, turn it on. The majority of the people don't want to use it. I don't play COD because of the chat. Black Ops 2 was very easy to MUTE EVERYONE. Ghost and AW made it more difficult. Most people on mics are immature kids that only want to make fun of each other and call each other "nig". We also have idiots that want to listen to music in the background that don't realize with that music going others can't talk or hear. In-game chat is bullshit with these idiots now-a-days.

Music in the background is just as bad as people with their TVs too loud. I don't want to hear my tv on top of your TV through my head phones that's x3 the noise all playing at different intervals. I agree with you, but it's cumbersome to turn the sound on i would prefer to turn chat off after i snitch(report) annoying players

You make a great point, I am probably looking at it from the wrong perspective. I was thinking I would have to turn the chat on and hope that no one is dropping the "N word", have kids crying in the background or loud music, then having to mute those players but yeah it would be easier to just turn chat on and off to mute everyone at once

Since I haven't played with it, I am not sure about it. Just saw that in the corner it shows the directional pad. As for the Chat, if I am wrong I hope someone chimes in, I was thinking it is either on or off. I didn't think you can mute and unmute individuals. This was why I haven't mess with it.
