I really hope you are trying to e a sarcastic ass about this, because I am a norse pagan, as was my father and grandpa and his father before him. It's been in my family for generations. We live by the same values and beliefs that our ancestors held dear.
It's a practiced way of life still by millions.
Being an asshole to everyone shows ignorance, Odin gave us wisdom to not be seen as fools. We must endeavor to be better men, using the gifts we were given.
If you die honorably in combat, or in some glorious way, if Odin deems you worthy the Valkyries will carry you to Valhalla. Otherwise you would ascend to Asgard, or the hall of your patron god. My family has always been followers of Ullr and Tyr, so I hope to go to one of their halls when I die.

No, just be fair. If someone raises their hand to you, cut that shit off, but if someone is good to you, be good to them. Your enemies are your enemies and should not be forgiven until their crime against you is repaid equally. It's not a hard concept. In fact, it's a more simple way of life. Growing up, I used to get in trouble because I was raised to be straight forward and fair, my dad and grandpa always told me "all things in equal trade" and they told me to make the gods proud I must be strong and preserve my honor. So that's all I really do.

Well, in my family history, it was practiced in secret. My family went from Norway to Poland and from Poland to America eventually, my grandpa is the first in the family to wear his hammer openly and proudly claim to be a Norseman. It never died out according to him, it was just not practiced openly ever since we lost the war and most were forced to convert to Christianity or were put to death. So.. It was practiced in secret. I know personally 39 people outside of my clan and that's excluding members of the respective kindreds. When I was stationed in Germany, I met a great number of my kinsman in the army, and we always held Blots and ceremonies together. I met a number of German friends that were of the folk as well as many many others when I traveled to Norway, Poland, Sweden and the Faroese islands, which are a republic of Denmark. Ever since the 80's -and 90's it has been spreading and more people are taking up the ways of the old gods or practicing openly again. A lot of families, like mine who have never converted to Christianity or turned from the gods still exist as well.
