To those saying the raid can be done with 560s. You’re not wrong. But you’ll most likely be at riven for several hours. 590 isn’t a lot to ask for, especially if you’re on at least 2 Days a week for milestones. And asking for experience is normal, and expected. If I’m trying to get a run done fast, I’m not going to teach it to somebody. But the sad truth is that there’s nobody on the lfgs asking for 590+ with 10 clears. People’s patience grows thin when people who don’t know what they are doing lie about it, so asking for clears only makes sense.

23 RepliesI just find it funny that the expectation is to know what to do when we haven't stepped foot into the raid. "Go watch youtube videos!" is a hilarious response. People don't want the enjoyment of figuring it out anymore? The struggle/problem solving IS part of the journey. Gamers these days are horrific. Can't figure it out for themselves, take the easy way out and watch someone who has done it already. What's the rush? I don't think the raid elitism is that bad. People are just getting lazy with video games now. The rush to get things done is asinine, and the argument that 'My time is important" is null and void when they spend 1000s of hours playing the same game.

10 Replies2 days a week for milestones to be at 590? I think not. I've been busting my butt daily and I'm 572. Anyway, I get people not wanting to teach others. Get in and learn it day one or get left behind. That's how it goes. For those wanting to wait until they were 565+, they'll have to search for posts allowing that, and there are plenty of them. It's just that those people complaining don't want to put in the hours wiping with jag ovvs who can't do something right.
-
1 ReplyI’m 596 but why would you care if they are 590? Riven encounter is only 580?
-
22 RepliesWait, so 590+ isn't a lot to ask for? So you're saying I should grind dailies and weeklies until I get 590+ before I will be welcome in a LW raid? The elitism is disgusting. I can't even start my own fireteam for LW because as soon as people learn it is my first LW raid, they leave. How the -blam!- is anyone supposed to play the game whenever people like you refuse to help anyone learn? Even new people don't want to play with new people it seems. Everyone either wants to be carried or they have unrealistic requirements that the majority of people don't meet. I just want a group that can get the first boss or two. I could care less about experience. Just watch a -blam!-ing YouTube video on the raid. You people need to get off of your high horses. You ruin the game for the rest of us.
-
2 RepliesElitism is bad. That said, I find groups and have a handful of more tasteful people, so I look at those posts as filters for people I don't want to play with.
-
I’ve managed to play multiple hours every day since forsaken came out and I’m only 585.
590 isn’t a lot to ask for
Lol

Well considering I posted on forums looking for people who were 570+ for the raid and the first response I got was from someone who said he wasn't even higher 530 light trying to shame me for looking for people who are the corresponding light levels to do damage for the raid, I would agree.

Edited by TheRockinDragon: 10/12/2018 9:49:07 AM"But how are we supposed to figure the raid out if we never played!?!" .... It's not like there's 50 YouTube videos detailing every encounter or anything. Yeah real experience is 10x more valuable, but acting like you legit have 0 clue at everything is your own ignorance. My first run of Leviathan I only needed explaining for the patterns of dogs, because i knew the other encounters by myself and wasn't a burden. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. People like them are the REASON elitists exist. We just don't want to deal with clueless morons that needed a full fireteam LFG to clear story missions. Or people that don't even know that tossing the relic to a teammate in The Corrupted charges it up.

I think people just expect you to carry them when they don't have to. If they don't want a lower level person or an inexperienced one, calling it elitism just because they don't let you in is absolutely ridiculous. Many people out there don't want to waste precious time if they don't have to, and if this raid requires that all of us have the skill and ability to take it down, having some dead weight that drags the whole team down is irritating. If you want to join a group make your own damn lfg and provide info that would be critical. No experience, low light level, etc. In the real world, people have expectations for activities that take time. If your job is to build a house, the last thing you would want is somebody that has no idea what they are doing. That's why you learn how to do the job. If you know what to do, but have never have actually done it, it's understandable for people to be strict. However, that's where the mentallity of the player comes in. Some don't mind trial and error. Maybe they will make a new friend, have a good time, etc. But not everyone is like that. I personally don't like it when people want to raid, but couldn't at the least look up information on how to do it. You couldn't give me 10 minutes of your own time but expect me to give three times that and above for you? I don't like that. If you have the time to raid, you have the time to look up at least some information. I can at least work with that so it's easier to explain things if things don't quite go right. People gotta understand that you can't just act like they are supposed to carry you.

A lot more to it than this. Elitism in destiny is very big and a huge turn off. I’m convinced there are some that believe they were on Mercury this week. It’s sad how many insecure people derive much of their self worth from a video game. The way many treat others is absolutely gross.

13 RepliesTo be honest the 590 part is rather worthless. There is no level advantage in this game, so someone who is 590 and someone who is 580 actually deal the same amount of damage in the riven fight. So asking people to be higher than the actual power level of the enemies is pretty much pointless mechanics wise.
-
I’m about 585 almost 590 (something inbetween) and whenever I try raid, I always get idiots at around 550, If I ever do raid (Which I will), I’m going to make a post saying “Be 580 Plus, Know what to do.” Also when I complete the entire raid, I will make posts like the original except I will say “have (The amount of clears that i have)” But if I have, say, 17 clears, I wouldnt ask people to have 17 clears, I’ll max it at 3 or 5.
-
1 ReplyMy three friends did the whole raid in an hour with another team of 3. All but one of us were above 390 light. If we had any 560s, the raid would take way longer. If you are only 360 at this point, that sounds like your problem and I'd rather not waste my time.
-
You are wrong. It is as bad as everyone thinks.
-
Rubbish. I have an alt account where I'm only running the hunter through Forsaken so far. I have done most milestones since release and am still only about 520-530. You have to rely on decent RNG to rank up. Last week all I managed to get from the milestones was helmets and chest pieces. They dropped at similar or lower power levels than I had as my boots and cloak dragged my level down. I agree that a lot of people don't want to teach and that's fine, but don't lie by saying that there are no posts asking for 10 completions and 590+ power. I have seen them many times. Hell, during the raid lairs there were posts asking for 100+ completions! The only people asking for that are pointless farmers

1 ReplyOr ppl can make their own groups with their own requirements.

1 ReplyEdited by Lavi: 10/12/2018 8:40:02 AMNothing wrong with it, annoying sometimes if your looking but everyone wants something different. Never had much time to raid (kids and other stuff) just haven’t wanted to start and not finish and let the group down, but when I have always made sure to be at the right level threshold to be effective. Last raid was a partial kings fall and vault of glass back in d1. Nothing wrong with asking for the level you want, just make your own group or grab friends not hard.
-
Agree. Granted I just reached someone the raid by telling him to stand and shoot certain things lmao
-
4 RepliesI had my first raid with a team that used the cheats available.. after that I wanted to play legit.. and checked a video "how to do the raid" .. after 1:30h I perfectly understand why basically everyone does the cheese.. having a raid with mechanics that mimic a perfect ballet and where everyone dies from ONE. mistake is not really a fun thing.. so I can perfectly understand now why people are only looking for 5 clears and 590+ or looking to do the cheese.. bungie could have done the raid better.. really.. not different just with no revive tokens and some more wiggle room for the normal raid..

It is.

1 ReplyPeople want to level up fast and figure the raid is the best way. I have found over time, even with my minimal raid clears, that they'd rather be carried through raids before even attempting other milestones. They don't want to make their own LFG posts. They want you to find the team. They don't want to watch videos. They expect you to be infinitely patient. Then when you're finally done, you don't see them again until the next week and they're still complaining about leveling slow. On the flip side, you have the folks who no-life the game for 4-6 weeks and complain about lack of content.
-
5 RepliesI mean I don't have a single character at 590 but I've got 9 clears. It's more of a matter of your team than your light level. A group of 600s with garbage communication can't do the raid like a tight knit group of 560s can
-
1 ReplyWhy you must have people can't raid with your elite friends? Maybe you aren't that good, my bad, I totally understand now.

8 RepliesEdited by XenoWraith: 10/11/2018 8:00:32 PMIt’s detrimental to the health of a community. There’s enough toxicity going around in PvP and most of us would like to keep it there. Being a raid elitist is bringing that toxicity into PvE where it’s supposed to be chill (for the most part at any rate) instead of sweaty MLG must have x amount of clears etc etc. Also, if you found someone is not being straightforward you do hold the power of bringing it up, and if it gets proven to be truth, the boot can then come out on that guy. Nothing worse than having a lier in your team. Asking for clears is exactly what leads to even more toxicity in an environment that’s supposed to be a somewhat more chill environment than PvP. Edit: auto correct is a pain sometimes

1 ReplyEdited by Explosivo96: 10/11/2018 8:54:06 PMMy first attempt at riven while I was barely under 560 my group did just fine against riven. We would have completed it if we didn’t get booted back to orbit by the servers. I’m aware you didn’t say it wasn’t possible. I just wanted to share that it doesn’t take long to do with someone less than 560.
