The Pirate Bay was more than just movies, it was torrents of all kinds of things. I got a lot of expensive computer programs and games from there that I wouldn't have otherwise afforded. It was recently raided by Swedish Police. The founders are in jail (last I heard) and the site was taken down. That being said, there are a number of proxy sites that have kept most of the original torrents up.
