Lol at people who post just to say "uhhh that's not OG halo!" Seriously? Really?
The Spartan Laser was first introduced in Halo 3 which was the final piece of the original trilogy. That would be like saying Return of the Jedi isn't OG star wars because A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back came first.
Also, fusion rifles don't compare to the Spartan Laser. the Spartan Laser took longer to charge as was capable of destroying vehicles and players from long ranges. fusion rifles are anti-infantry for mid-short range encounters. I suppose with the lack of truly worthwhile vehicles in game that fusion rifles might be effective at close range, it would take quite a bit of skill on the infantry part (and a lack of skill on the vehicle operator) for a fusion rifle to down a pike or interceptor given their ease of strafing.
BUTTTT, to the OP:
This would be awesome. I also like the other ideas of railguns, flamethrowers (elemental "throwers" of other sorts as well), and grenade launchers. A heavy melee weapon of a sword or hammer would also be cool. Could even bring a new crucible type with all swords.
I also think it would be cool to have a void weapon that could suck players or A.I (could make it PvE only for nerf whiners) into a "void hole" of sorts. No AOE damage, but the closer you get the stronger it pulls, thus slowing you down (if escaping) or killing you (if you're running from someone/something else).
