Hi all,
Which primary weapon do you primarily use; and why?
I am debating which primary should I use and I would very much like some of your opinions and suggestions to help me to decide.
I very much like the scout rifle for it has good impact, which interrupts the targets, and good damage. Also I always aim for a head shot (or a belly shot against the Vex). So I have grown fond of the scout rifle since I started playing. I also like the hand cannon too; except for its relatively small cartridge size painfully long reloading speed. I have tried to really like it and use it but I have always ended falling back to the scout rifle. The pulse rifle is a good choice too although I do not use it that often. I feel that it is not as easy to use as the auto rifle and not as impactful as the scout rifle and the hand cannon. I however have to say that the pulse is very good at one thing: scoring headshot. First you aim at the chest just below the neck, which is larger and easier to aim than the head, then the recoil will move the muzzle up and you will hit the head.
Lately, I have done some PvP matches and some team PvE. I have noticed that a lot of people are using the auto rifle. I would say nearly a majority of them. For me, I just cannot get used to the constant recoil and the constant adjusting of aim. I understand its appeal and it also manages to score a lot of team kills too. With the auto rifle, you can start aiming at the general direction before moving into a more precise aiming, and thus almost always hits something. WIth the scout rifle and the hand cannon, you have to aim first before firing, and then reengage when necessary and fire again. In PvE teaming, it annoys me to see that my kill counts are lower than a auto rifle user but I believe I deal more or less the same amount of damage; just that my bullets hit fewer targets.
So anyway, what do you use? Please share your views on the primary weapons.
Thanks!

I use a fusion rifle as my primary. (≧∇≦)/
-
1 ReplyThere should be a fusion rifle option For those who have mythocast
-
I now use none of those. Vex mythoclast
-
I use AR for pvp but hand cannons for pve because it's fun
-
If you want to dominate PvP use AR Primary Fusion Rifle Secondary and Rockets heavy.

Looks like you answered your own question, if you feel yourself using a particular gun then that's what you should go for. Don't follow what everyone says, do your own thing and use what you feel comfortable with.
-
Just depends on your play style. If you like run and gun go AR If you like mid range poking go with pulse or hand cannon And if you like to be long range have a scout or a really accurate pulse
-
I use em all. Initially I used ars because for the other ones you needed some higher tier stuff

1 Replyar is clearly the best weapon... i don't understand the hate. i use ar because its the best. if they make pulse or scout better i will switch....(We all know hc will always suck) let's stop the ar bashing. if you get killed by some one using ar while you have a hc in your hand,it's your own fault. it can be frustrating getting a nice new purple scout knoWing the blue ar is a better weapon. anyway just give up the ar bashing everything is balanced, nothing has to be changed

1 ReplyEdited by PowZ: 10/7/2014 4:23:58 AMWith 3 Legendary Primary weapons: I switch between my Auto: Dr. Nope , and my Pulse: Bad Seed Down. When I need longer range I switch to Scout: Proxima Centauri II. . . . But I probably use Dr. Nope the most because it has a 72 round clip and it's a "bullet hose of death" (quoting another guardian who affectionately described it as such).

Shadow Price AR. Once you start getting the upgrades into it, it turns into a real nail-driver. Honestly, I'm not a good enough shot for the hand-cannons/scout rifles (which I will be working on), and I just don't find pulse rifles satisfying for some reason. So ARs it is.

ARs. Any other weapon is inferior in the Crucible. (It's true, OP.) Lots of ammo, fast damage and consistent fire.
-
Pve=hand canon. Pvp=AR
-
Red death. Nuff said
-
I use the pulse rifle read death the autorifle suros and the handcannon thorn as primary weapons suros and thorn maxed out are very strong only read death is at the moment not maxed out Thorn with poison damage are good for pvp :D
-
Always swap between my vision on confluence and the last word
-
Why is there not a poll option for switching between them all fairly equally?
-
Lol How did I know the majority would use the ARs.
-
to your post i've come to like the Scout rifles with incendiary/Explosive together i've only found one or two like that altho i do tend to use Snipers as well (however) even with Ammo increases with armor n what not it still isn't as much reliable really for shielded enemies or targets you want to fill with lead (my personal preference on any game is snipers im sad that bungie gives you at max 25-30 rounds of ammo with armor enhancements for the sniper (about the same for shotguns) yet fusion rifles get a bit more... but meh its all about what you like not what others like it also Varies on the Level and enemies n such.

Atheons epilogue autorifle or Super POX VLO depending on what enemy I'm facing.
-
I try to use all types since I have at least one exotic of each type but I prefer the Hand Cannon. Good range nice base damage and amazing crit damage. The Thorn is pretty good for PvP.
-
3 RepliesShadow price right now. Any AR that you can increase the stability is what I look for. Like the Shigen-E, Shadow Price, and the one New Monarchy sells, I forget the name.
-
I use Handcannons due to their Impact. Right now I'm running with The Devil You Know and its served me well. For PvP I don't know, the only time I went to PvP was to get things done for the Thorn bounty (being a Hunter I had to use Void Special weapons...)
-
i use the lord high fixer for story/strikes and patrol and for multiplayer i use the grim citizen III
-
I use the vanquisher AR it's a good balance of power and rate of fire.

Shadow price is my go to right now.
