Aerial effectiveness was basically the nail in the coffin for dawnblade.

For a class that Bungie hss stated is meant to be hugely aerial based, Bingie has given zero advantage or ability to actually doing the. Heat rises requires huge skill to actually make the most of. You become a target for the whole map You get no damage resistance up there Side arms were the ultimate weapon with dawnblade yet they link fusions and linears with the rain of fire exotic. the cool down on phenix dive (who the F... thought that was a good idea) Having to choose between phoenix dive and your rift.... who the f... thought that was a good idea again.

  • More than six months of Solar Warlock being demonstrably weak and subjectively boring as hell. Designers have done nothing and said even less. Airborne play is gimmicky at best, and is objectively unwise to use in any activity above screensaver difficulty (PVE or PVP). Not every move can be a crowd-pleaser in creative industries, but keep in mind [b]the offered explanation for no new class or element was a major Light-classes rework.[/b] So when do Warlocks get theirs? Dawnblade was neutered to hell with zero meaningful improvements since launch. Don't get me started on Incinerator Snap, which was clearly meant to be something else. Instead of getting Col. Roy Mustang's Ignite (obvious intention), some hot coals plop out instead. Btw, [b]Stormtrance is unchanged since 2015.[/b] Apparently now we're to [b]wait until the next expansion to see improvements.[/b] That may be an attempt at humor, I'm not sure. Regardless, I have already spent my last cent on Destiny until this (class,[i] not[/i] Exotics) is addressed.

    • The in air stuff has never worked for Dawnblade. Destiny doesn't and has never been friendly to in air play. It's been this way for 8 years. And for the entirety of Dawnblade existence. Everything from nightfall modifiers to the fundamentals of the game itself are designed to discourage you from jumping.

      • Dawnblade is still incredibly effective, it's just not an instant win for every encounter anymore. God forbid you have to actually work for a kill.

        AE and slide nerf were the nail in the coffin for every class and most of all for the fun in this game(movement was what made this game so special, liked and different from the others), now it's like playing CoD but with abilities spam instead shooting. Agree that Phoenix dive have an absurd cooldown time, should be at least the half or even less and should be part of the heat rises nature, not a class ability. For the others I think that are ok, but right now arc titan and void hunter are too strong, nerfing them will bring back solar warlock, warlock in general, in a good position.

      • AE made PvP more unenjoyable for all classes. All because the lower skill brackets for controller users complained that they don't have thumbs and can't look up.

      • Except shatterdive doesn't heal or have the option to apply a verb of the 3.0. Warlocks aerial play is still arguably better than the other two classes. You also have Glaives and that exotic chest piece that gives DR while hovering. Celestial fire is pretty strong and icarus dash adds aerial maneuverability that can't be beat. 4 sec cooldown was it? You guys really need to learn at understanding your own damn class 1st before bringing up others as examples.

          • AE was unnecessary especially since the slide nerf was put into play. Just let players play how they want already and stop trying to be a player with developer powers. Bungie needs to be developers first and players second. The game was much better when players were able to go to the studio to play test the changes before launched while providing open feedback.

          • Disagree. Top tree and bottom tree were never end-game viable. That has always been dominated by Well of Radiance and the need for team damage and survival. In other content, the buff to Warlock abilities makes up for the nerf to the super and the changed role of Phoenix Dive. PD now has major support powers, so allowing it to be spammed like before would have been game-breaking. Warlocks simply require the player to commit to a play style and then build around it. The issue is that you have a vocal minority who just refuse to adapt.

              • I believe Bungie’s pov on AE is that aeiral movement was supposed to improve positioning but not aerial gunplay. Why Bungie WONT’T just come out and explain this is beyond me.

              • There needs to be more options to invest in AE and at 100 AE all weapons need to have exactly the same performance, accuracy AND aim assist, as grounded, on BOTH input devices. Also popping heat rises shouldn't mark you on the minimap.

                • All they need to do is make it able to be specced into more effectively… but the cost should be high. If a Hunter wants to go around at 90 mph bumping their head on the ceiling and trying to hit perfect crits while flying sideways, let them do it but make it so that’s all they can do… so increased dodge cooldown, melee cooldown, etc. The biggest problem with ability spam in crucible right now is that it costs nothing to do it… Hunters basically get free ways to negate it completely. Titans have a couple of exotics that really reduce it… Warlocks, well very few people are playing Warlock in crucible right now (though I was surprised how many I saw in IB, probably because of the free ability regen) AE was for Hunters in the first place because the other classes jumps didn’t let them abuse the aerial stuff as easily as Hunter and the class spread is out of hand. 50%+ of a single class in a gamemode when 3 classes are available cannot be explained away by simple aesthetic preference (and it was at 50% a season or two ago).

If there were damage resist, then suddenly dawnblade warlocks [i]could[/i] become the meta/ their main identity being flying in the skybox with any fusion + rain of fire. Vex + rain of fire = actual fun. Just gonna leave that there. The cd on phoenix dive does need some work and probably as an aspect since rift is just better for healing in my opinion. Just have phoenix dive be a separate keybind with a slightly lower cd so that we could still use rift. Just my opinion on this stuff.

                • I agree that daybreak needs major work to fix it. But AE should give that subclass an advantage if done properly and actually doing what it is suppose to. Daybreak should have a really high AE and should be able to max out with an exotic.

                • +70 AE when Heat Rises is active. That basically maxes out the AE stat on every weapon. Icarus Dash allows you to quickly dash back into cover while you're in the air. I think Phoenix Dive can also be used in a similar manner, but I haven't ever tried it. The ranged melee works best while you're in the air. It's a guaranteed hit. There is a ton of synergy with the build. Yes, it requires skill to use, but it is still the best Aerial Build in the entire game. It works best (in my opinion) with Sidearms, SMGs, Grenade Launchers, and Cerberus. Gl Abuser and MetaEclipse have both used this build for a while, and it's still viable. Finally, the subclass has a healthy usage rate and doesn't need to be buffed. If you buff a subclass that already had a healthy usage rate, then it will become overused (like Void Hunter and Arc Titan are now).
