Sunsetting has killed my desire to play
Sunsetting has killed my desire to play this game. I have guns that I masterworked and loved to play that got sunset. All that effort and enjoyment gone. I have other guns that I like that are about to be sunset. Im like why bother putting effort into mw them. Then it hit me. This is what it will be like from now on. This killed me. I no longer want to go for the next cool gun or godroll. Why bother. Bungie is just gonna take it away from me. The guns they introduced this expansion and season are frankly lackluster. None of them compare to what we lost. I mean the whole thing, whether we admit it or not, is to find that one gun we love and mw it and get our kill tallies. MW is just not worth it anymore. This saddens me greatly. I have been playing since Destiny 1. Hell I got my ps4 because of it. Of all the ups and downs this one is the one that hurts the most. This was a horrible decision on Bungies part. If not reversed I can only see this hitting veteran players the hardest as they also come to this realization. It made me happy to see Bungie split from Activision. I think the game has been better since then. Until now.

Yup. Luke Smith is just too obsessed with MMO's and desperately wants D2 to become one. But he just doesn't have the resources or manpower to pull it off. It should be very simple: - If you sunset 100 weapons, you introduce at least 100 new weapons. - If you sunset 4 strikes, you introduce at least 4 new strikes. - If you sunset 5 crucible maps, you introduce at least 5 new crucible maps. - If you sunset 3 gambit maps, you introduce at least 3 new gambit maps. - If you sunset a raid, you introduce at least 1 new raid. - If you sunset 4 planets, you either introduce at least 4 new planets, or 2 huge ones. AND SO FORTH! And sunsetting solutions should also be very simple: Every activity this season, should drop weapons and gear that sunsets at 1410. Doesn't matter if it is old content like Dreaming City or the Moon: If those planets don't sunset, the gear also shouldn't sunset. Next season EVERYTHING should drop at 1460 power: Europa gear, Dreaming City, Moon, Deep Stone Crypt raid, EDZ, Cosmodrome, Nessus, Trials, IB, strikes, gambit, lost sectors, public events.... EVERYTHING. Can you imagine? In September or October this year everything you get from Europa and Deep Stone Crypt will be worthless, and so this raid/planet will be dead very soon. Way to kill off your own game Bungie! XD

Just stop giving money to Bungo, and maybe someday they will realise that people don't want sunset in the game. You lost all your rights to complain at the second your paid for Beyond Light while knowing sunsetting was coming. The only people who are at fault here is the playerbase, who keeps buying shittier and shittier expansions without a second thought. Wanna be heard ? Then act like it.

Love it or hate it, sun setting will never be removed, me personally I hate it but something had to change, sun setting was the easiest and laziest option, in fact it's really quite smart of Bungie because for the minimum amount of effort they fixed power creep, why worry if a meta gets to strong when you can put an expiry date on it. But it is lazy, and pretty much Bungie for last couple of years in a nut shell, why fix the sand box when you have sun setting, why rework mods that no one uses or wants to and try to make them more viable when you have sun setting, why work on real armour sets that give a bonus when you pair up the same gear and maybe boost under used mods when you have sun setting. It's just embarrassing if you ask me, and Beyond Light is the culmination of that mind set, dont give me that COVID excuse either this has been a long term pattern, way before COVID, Destiny 2 was jokingly referred to as Destiny 1.5, that was wrong, it was less of a game than year 4 vanilla, it was more like Destiny 0.5, Bungie of old is long gone and will never ever return, deal with that and ask yourself if you still want to play the game. It's a shame it really is, the core gun play of this game is top tier and just a bit more effort could've made this a genre defining game, between Bungie and Ubisoft no one is doing more to show live service games shouldn't be a thing. All this game is going to be remembered for even after some great moments is unfulfilled potential. It f*cks me off no end how they have let it slide and become the pale shell it now is. As for PvP...... Bungie at their finest these days. But I'm sure the usual suspects in the "influencer" world will all loose there sh1t at the next TWAB full of promises they wont keep.

But thats because they never tried to make our kill tracking weapons useless. I have a bow with over 6 thousand final blow in crucible, that now will never be usable in iron banner again or trails, or PvE, they have essentially forced me to drop my old gear and try and grind and farm for new gear. "Beyond light"? I'm "beyond" frustrated, this disappointing coming from my favorite game. I praised this game so much over the years, and now I don't even have a ledge to hold onto when arguing for this game. Sincerely a extremely disappointed destiny 1 gaurdian.

4 RepliesThis community lost all credibility when it started grinding out titles, that showed bungie that you guys would literally chase ANYTHING. Sorry but I play for loot, weapons and armor, which is why I wont bother doing the coup de grace mission I could care less about a ship. Bungie now knows that you guys will chase a ship, a shader, an emblem, practically anything so gg's eejits ya played yaself.

6 RepliesBungie has really messed up on this one. Not just with Sunsetting. But the new Raid weapons are completely OP compared to the standard loot pool. So they basically have a pinnacle problem again. Those weapons will be in everyone’s loadout exclusively for a year. And sunsetting only makes the choice easier.

I don't know how somone can really like the absurd amount of copy and paste work when we were actually getting new content with Activision. That's scary...

2 RepliesStrongly agree with this. I have an unhealthy amount of time invested in this game I hate to admit, and it has all been burned thanks to sunsetting. Why bother with this anymore? My other two looter shooters I play (Warframe and Division 2) allow me to use my stuff anywhere I want for as long as I want. Plus if you add the fun I’m having with Smash Bros. and Crash then there really is nothing this game can offer anymore that others don’t already provide. I feel this year is going to be the deciding year for both this game and Bungie. If they don’t do something drastic to turn things around, this game will be be gone because everyone has quite simply had enough. There are indie games out there that are better maintained than this one and it’s supposed to be a triple A title?! My backside it is!

2 RepliesI don't mind weapons sunsetting because I think it keeps the game fresh but Bungie should add NEW weapons to replace them. While returning D1 content is cool and all (I guess) they should't really sell that as new content just because they did some small perk tuning to it. Also I 100% disagree with armor sunsetting. Grinding for that perfect stat roll for your build is already RNG based and it takes alot of materials to masterwork them + it really screws over solo players who don't have access to ascendant shards so easily. I don't really see the point to grind for good rolls anymore. But the most annoying thing right now that also applies to other games as well is unfinished and broken content. This has really dropped my interest in gaming. Not just Destiny but gaming overall.

As the season comes closer to ending, I have no drive to continue to try to find new loot in this looter shooter as I know whatever I get is closer to being sunset as the season is almost over...

I was optimistic until I ran into my first Brig on (patrol zone) Europa and got the "immune" damage floaters with my 1050 gear. Then, I checked the moon's nightmare hunts. Sure enough, all the power levels had scaled. It's really kind of dumb. We're levelling the same power levels over and over. We're giving up loot progress over and over. It's just optics. Raising the cap to 1250 simply "feels" better than resetting everyone to zero and disabling their gear every time DLC drops. If you raise the floor and the ceiling at the same time, the room isn't any bigger. Sunsetting takes away any desire to chase loot for me knowing that it's going to be useless by the time I find something I actually like. Especially since they're just going to re-skin the gear and put it out under a different name. It took me a long time to get a (Dad build) where I felt like I had gear I enjoyed and could usually pull more than my own weight and actually have fun in random matchmaking activities. They should have implemented sunsetting with a sliding cap based on the current seasonal power limit instead. You'd still be able to infuse to 1250 this season, but your gear wouldn't be good for master/grandmaster content where you want 1260. Next season, you could infuse your gear again up to 1300, but not 1310, etc.
