Another advantage to optional matchmaking.
Not for every activity though. There’s plenty of activities that should never have matchmaking.

Apart from the raid, which activities?
Apart from the raid, which activities?
Dungeon, highest level nightfalls and special exotic mission.
-
I don’t agree, I’ve done a few exotic quests with zero communication, same with high level nightfalls, and the dungeon can be soloed so no communication needed there. What annoys me is the one I did yesterday took 40 minutes to get a team together, 40 minutes to do a 20 min strike, waste of time.

Also the people randomly matchmaking are going suck. I was also talking about zero hour and whisper, you’re not doing that with a matchmade team. If it’s taking you 40 min to find a team, you’re using the wrong lfg.
-
I’ve done both those missions with a random team from lfg, zero communication and did them both in one run. Lfg is simply manual matchmaking, all it does is waste my time, these are nothing more than heroic strikes.

There are people who do the corrupted strike and don’t know how the balls work. Every activity that doesn’t have matchmaking has a reason for it.

I’m sorry, but we will have to agree to disagree.
I’m sorry, but we will have to agree to disagree.
That’s fair. At least you’re not asking for raid matchmaking.

Edited by NoHumorMan: 12/2/2019 4:21:40 AMIf you don't want to use matchmaking in raids, why would you prevent others from doing it, if they set it to optional? I don't get that kind of mentality.
If you don't want to use matchmaking in raids, why would you prevent others from doing it? I don't get that kind of mentality.
It would never work. It would be a waste of time implementing.

Edited by NoHumorMan: 12/2/2019 4:26:21 AMIt works in other games. And it may bring more people into those activities and learn them and get better - which happens in other games. So your argument fails. Bungie could even set up a trial run for those activities, where things get explained along the way.

The closest thing to destiny raids would probably be division 2 raids and guess what, they don’t have matchmaking either. Even in the case of division though, destiny raids are extremely unique. No one who uses matchmaking uses a mic and one person being bad is all it takes to fail and in matchmaking, you wouldn’t be able to kick and replace. That would mean unless you get 6 competent mic using players, you fail and have to leave. So your argument fails.

Yes, I have done raids. Found them to be tiresome to try and find people to play with, so I don't bother. + I found out there was a lot of jumping puzzles / platforming. Another reason to stay out. Just a bummer it's spreading to the rest of the game.

Don’t lie when your stats are public. The last raid to have a jumping puzzle was Last Wish. Raids would never work with matchmaking. Anyone who’s done one knows this.

You are aware that there is a Destiny 1, right?
-
You are aware that there is a Destiny 1, right?
You want matchmaking for d1 raids? Two different games and is completely irrelevant. D1 raids are completely different than d2 raids and still wouldn’t work with matchmaking. You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about.
-
No, I played raids in D1. And if you don't like matchmaking, if it was optional, you could just not use it. Why would you hinder other people from using it?

Why would you hinder other people from using it?
It would be a waste of development time and would turn new players away from raids when they fail over and over again. Also doing 6 clears in 2 non full raids in d1 doesn’t mean shit to this conversation. D1 and D2 raids are different, very different. Raids shouldn’t ever/will never get matchmaking.

And many are turned away because they have to go online to find teams and wait for hours. But I guess you just want to control what others will be able to do in the game instead of just playing the way you do and let others play the way they do.

How stupid are you that you don’t understand that? There’s zero point to putting it in the game. Raids are not meant for everyone but everyone can do one if they want. There are plenty of ways to find teams. Matchmaking doesn’t belong anywhere near raids and Bungie agrees.
