For all you guardians obsessed with Eververse as some sort of Illuminati conspiracy for world domination, I have some points of logic I'd like to run by you...
1. Eververse is totally optional. It's just cosmetics. If you don't wanna pay for them, don't. Bungie have never given into the cash-grab of "pay to play" where those with the cash can buy better weapons or armor, and they deserve respect for that. Other companies have gone completely to the dark side in this, but Bungie have not.
2. To continue developing new content, Bungie are totally independent now and will need to get their revenue from somewhere. If not Eververse, then it will have to be monthly fees or the like. Take your pick, but I'd rather the devil we know.
3. Bright dust is free to earn in game. Even after the expansion, there will still be Eververse bounties we'll be able to do. If you are a sucker for the bling, grind as much as you can now while it's easy and minimize your impulse spending on shiny things to save for stuff you might really want in the future.
I don't understand this attitude of "I paid for D1 so I should get all future new content for free". It costs money to pay people to develop new content. Sure we've all paid for the content we're experiencing now, but if we want more, the money for it has gotta come from somewhere. Bungie have already announced a different model of paying only for the expansions we want on a case by case basis. This to me is a step in the right direction. If you keep bleeting about Eververse, and Bungie actually listens to you, then be prepared for the alternative: everyone paying in some other way. I for one would prefer it to stay like it is.

Multiply that by 3-4 million people who buy the game. $60 x 3 million people = $180 million, just for one expansion.
Look at previous player counts (the ones who quit) and all the money that was collected from D1. There were 13 million Bungie accounts at one time, who all paid for the game. Some preordered delux editions, which cost more. Sure, they had to split profits with the publisher, but I'm sure they're okay. It was about $1 billion dollars or so.
Eververse is a bit predatory, now being made intrusive. I don't play Dresstiny, so I don't care about Eververse armor/ornaments. I don't play Dancetiny, so I don't care about the dances/emotes. I don't play Shipstiny, so I don't care about ships. Ghost shells and Sparrows should be ingame items, because they are used in-game, but we'll see what happens.

1 ReplyEdited by xbroggiex: 8/15/2019 2:25:32 PMOnly problem I have is them moving it so you can access it in the Director. It is convenient until you realise they haven't done the same with the rest of the tower vendors, and when I usually go onto the director I am going to play the game not purchase cosmetics or access eververse. Not to mention you most of the time have multiple things to hand in at the tower and all this change does is allow you to possibly access while loading which is kind of pointless. If all/most tower vendors were also accessible I wouldn't mind, but people have asked for this specific feature which Bungie already have as a debug feature but won't implement it as a feature into the game unless they do have it planned and just haven't talked about it.

All the other vendors in the tower haven't been updated in over a year, but eververse get chocked full of new stuff, every season, every event. The time investment in eververse is huge compared to actual vendors that are part of the main game. It's the shift in focus that concerns me.

5 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 8/15/2019 2:04:46 PMEververse is only an issue with people who feel they are entitled to everything in the store....or just want something to keep bashing Bungie over. It’s why Bungie stopped listening to the whining months ago. When this community lost its shit over the Iron Banner emotes, we tipped our hand. Made it undeniably clear that our objections weren’t based on any sort of consistent principles. And short of Bungie giving away everything in the store for free...nothing was ever going to make those complaining, happy. So Bungie stopped trying ages ago.
