I dismantled my ships, armor, sparrows etc. in preparation for the new system, and have over 75,000, and I've been buying stuff from the current season. The amount you need for the tribute is not hard to get without spending any money, and really even if you do spend money on engrams to pay for the tribute, what exactly are you "winning?"

By spending the money you are bypassing some kind of grind which in principle is terrible

With the 80% discount, you need to dismantle one exotic sparrow or ship to have enough dust. It's not exactly a grind, and it's one tribute. It's not actually going to accomplish anything for you.
