Am i the only one who like this concept?

I play a lot, and for me personally i kind of like the idea of timegated stuff. It makes me feel like there is always something new around the corner that I haven’t seen yet. And even if I do “old” content, that I still think is pretty fun to play. And the crucible never gets old either, I still have the carrot of maybe I get a new exotic that i haven’t got to play with yet. Anyway, I realy enjoy this game a lot. Even if it has its flaws, it’s the game I keep coming back to due to the very nice graphics and fluid gunplay.

    • I like the idea of an evolving world that changes on a weekly basis. I enjoy new quests popping up and new stuff to chase. What I don't like are quests that are strung out over a three week period. The Thunderlord quest being one such annoyance. To me, it felt obviously time-gated and this jarred me from what should have been an organic experience. Everyone wants something new to play, I don't think a single person would disagree with me. But, when a DLC drops, we also want something immediately available to play. A new patrol zone for example, you know, something to sink our teeth into and explore. Humans need a lot of stimulation, so offering too little content off the bat is always going to make people frustrated. There needs to be a balance between ongoing weekly content, and enough upfront stuff to keep players interested for the first few weeks. If I released black armoury, I would have done the following: 1) New evolving patrol zone in the last city (an abandoned section that ties into the raid). This would have hidden secrets, an exotic quest, new armour and weapons loot table, a set of activities and weekly quests to complete. 2) Introduce Ada (not in the tower but hidden in the new patrol zone). In order to gain access, you have to prove your worth and help her out in the city. Eventually, after gaining favour, you're allowed into her bunker (not a euphemism). Forges would be as is, but the first one would be scaled down to the blind-well's difficulty. This can be ramped up as the weeks go on, offering different loot for the harder difficulties. 3. New raid and a new strike would come out, and then the dawning event will tie people over till the new year. After that it's just about updating events in the dreaming city, following the roadmap of content, advancing the story and developing the plot as we head towards destiny 3.

    • The funny thing is you're exactly what Bungie thinks people like but you're a very rare breed. The rest of us don't fall for stupid timegates. If it was a cool mystery I accept the timegate but if it's a basic ass quest line it's just waiting to do the next basic ass thing.

      • Yes. You are the only one who liked time Gates. Or your just trying to impress Bungie for some strange reason.

      • I like the idea. A whole year of stuff to do. I however want them to stop giving us “horde lite” stuff and just give us what we really want. Endless missions and procedural content would do a world of good for the game IMO.

      • it's all I'm how its communicated within the story. With black armory for example, nothing made sense. Ada tells u she needs ur help and speaks as if ur the only guardian she is allowing access..then u get to the forge n ur paired up with other guardians and after completing the first wave, it felt like that could have been the end of an introductory forge. nope power level jumped to 625 and it's a bad time. why did ada not warn the guardian to get stronger first or get some other powerful friends? that way we know its gonna be a bit before we can help her. why didnt she mention the other guardians she told about the forges? how did the cabal and spider know about it but vanguard didnt? and if the cabal have been losing so bad how did they get so strong so quickly? It's ok to have timegated stuff, just dont deliver it in a lazy way..cover all the bases..send a vidoc outside game and build a believable narrative/explanation/expectation in-game.

      • So do I, I have just enough time to do my grind stuff and one new activity a week and then catch up a bit on the weekends so this works great for me

      • I actually really like the idea of them releasing new end game stuff in between major dlcs/destiny 3. Like the idea of being able to dive into something like red dead 2 for a month and come back to a months worth of content really excites me. I like playing other games and also just doing other things in general so having something new each time i return to destiny is perfect for me. And also if that means the writing team get a full year to really make an amazing story instead of rushing stuff out like the osiris dlc due to a release schedule im 100% excited to see what they can do. I do how ever think the progression system needs a good hard look at, ive never been a fan of the weeklies being the only way to level up. It makes the game feel like a chore sometimes, like if i want to raid friday i better clean my room, take out the trash, wash the car, do the dishes, etc.

      • I think it's fine but I also wasn't under impressions this was a new campaign or something, and my attempt to give those people upset information on what comes after you can beat the Forge got downvoted, as if somehow I am not merely a messenger trying to tell them "This is what is next so you can know ahead of time and can spare yourself the effort" but the one who made it that way in the first place. That or me having beaten it or that I like more end-game somehow offends them and any opinion that isn't outrage must mean I'm a fanboy or a shill. Not sure what I expected to happen, really. The community - at least on here - always finds something to bitch about. Either the game sucks because there's not enough to do/there's no grind/everything is handed to you OR it's too much of a hassle to do all the things that give increases to power/there's too much grind/RNG drops are stupid and why am I not guaranteed things. It was bad when in D1 old content became outdated by new content, but now that content stays relevant and there's increasingly more ways to gear up to the new cap it's stupid that the new stuff doesn't give you an immediate boost and invalidate all the old content. Like what? It's no damn wonder the game has an identity crisis, people want a looter-shooter with loot to just be force-fed constantly down their gullets (because god forbid they don't have any loot drop for more than half an hour of play, it's like an MMO in hyperspeed) but hate when they're showered in loot and Bungie then have the impossible task of pleasing Activision, one of many greedy "AAA" companies that seems to set absurd expectations for game sales so that nothing is ever good enough for them or their shareholders unless it makes more money than anything they've done ever (except Nintendo when Iwata was in charge, he'd dock his own salary rather than blame employees). Forsaken made more money than anything else in September but it was "below expectations", so now it needs more monetizations. Makes me fear for what EA is going to do with Anthem because after what they did with Battlefront 2 - a game that, when microtransaction/pay-to-win mechanics were removed, had to be rebalanced because of how slow progress became, something which only shines a highlight on how they designed it around people spending more money - will do with something of this sort of genre; probably something like being able to buy the equivalent of a prime engram or powerful reward with a premium currency (like Silver in Eververse). But I digress as I seem to have let my disdain for the toxic quagmire the gaming industry is becoming because of corporate greed which is ruining my hobby by putting shareholders above the actual customers slip in to all this.

timegated progression is the worst shit and the primary reason i cant stand destiny anymore, theres no way to catch up if you missed a month or two , all the missed trhottled/timegated progression options should at least roll over to the upcoming weeks , so if you take a break you can catch up by playing more

      • My food is time gated. Gotta wait 30min for it But they say if I wait 31+min it’s free. Bungie, getting ideas? Oh well I tried.

      • Like the forge concept not the deliverance, I would have liked a short story campaign and maybe a new strike based around the story.

      • Doing arbitrary old shit for 4 steps only to get hard-stopped due to Power Level, which forces you to do all the weekly things you did before to even have the slightest snowball's chance in hell is, in fact, an awful concept. Especially if it takes a maximum of 2 hours into the new content.

      • I’m fine with timegated. First forge should definitely have been doable right away though. Even if it was an ‘introductory’ forge that just gave lower tier legendary BA weapons (like those yellow bars in EDZ and Bessus drop). Other option is power level increase should have started last week so people were ready.

      • All of this could have been avoided if they just had the forge start at 620 amd and provided some clear paths through the forge to higher level power. Have all remaining forges be at max. Its really that simple. I do like the concept and I actually really like the way the bounties and exchange, forges and quests work with Ada. Her narrative gets better, but why is she in the tower? Hmm.. At this point everyone needs to stop crying

      • I hate this concept, because while I don’t expect to beat the entire expansion on Day 1, I do expect to be able to beat the first mission at the very least so I can see what I spent $40 on.

        • Its really good for avid fans who actually want some hard content for the first time in destiny lmao. Yes its good, its a slow burn and theres tons to come. Sick of the casuals crying about everything even after they had 1 year of casual content.
