Incoming: Bungie.net Forum Post Requirements

Hello all, Starting tomorrow, 2/07, some Bungie.net forums will be updated with new post requirements. These changes are planned between 10 AM and 12 PM PST.
• Destiny2, Feedback, Gaming, and OffTopic: Players must have reached the Farm in Destiny 2 • Destiny, Clans, Recruitment, Community: Must have a Destiny account • Help: No game requirements necessary
As always, Private Groups are open to all for whatever experience you want to share with your friends, so long as it not violate our code of conduct. We are open to any and all feedback concerning Destiny and Destiny 2, but players who wish to contribute to the conversation will be required to have spent time in the game. Players who do not meet specified requirements will not be able to post or interact with threads on the forums in question. If threads are posted in the wrong forums in an attempt to circumvent these requirements, accounts will be subject to moderation by the Bungie.net Ninjas. From the Code of Conduct:
Bungie reserves the right to moderate this website and everything on it. You are here to contribute to the conversation, not to derail it. Any attempts to interfere with the discussion here will be removed. These guidelines require your best judgment, so please play nice. If you're not sure if the stuff you're about to share is appropriate for Bungie.net, don’t post it. That'll help you stay clear of the Banhammer's blast radius.
Cheers, -dmg

What will they do when they realize the forums will still burn with people that hate their game. They seem to think these random people just come here to talk shit and never played it. They just can't fathom that most the people that flame it so much .... used to be their biggest fans. Shocker I know. Looky here I'm posting after the censorship. I played the shot outta D1. I gave D2 a go and realized it was a dumpster fire after 2 weeks. Meanwhile you lie and try to manipulate your community... of course I'm going to help throw gas on the fire with this scam of a game. You fix it and I'll come back. I'll even defend the hell outta it. You burnt lots of bridges and pissed off a lot of people. Do you guys not see that ?

      • DMG being a jerk like always. Bungie can't handle the criticism, and probably hired Kim Jong Un to run these forums.

          • I’ll be completely honest, I cannot believe it took this long to implement these changes to the forums. As I’m writing this post I’m actually listening to YongYea. I often listen to him but I don’t agree with most of his opinions. This forum is for Destiny 2, like it or not. In order to comment why should t you have to pay for it. Owning the game and DLC is a choice. The forum has guidelines, and honestly it seems like they waited to long to implement them.

              • The fact that this comment is going to get lost in the avalanche of bad comments attached to this announcement should tell you something Bungie. I played and bought every DLC for D1, i even bought D2 and the season pass even though i stopped playing the game after the 1st month of ownership. D1 wasn't what you promised us, it was a shell of a game that was so clearly walled off simply so you had content to release to us later on that it was embarrassing. But i stayed. Then came all of the DLC and i played every bit of that as it was released until i got bored again and then you'd come out with more DLC and the game steadily got better and better, closer to what you promised us at E3. It took you 2 years to get there and at 3x the cost but you finally got there. Hurray! Then came D2, i had such high hopes for the game, after all, you had 2 years of DLC experience to build off of while designing it, literally all you had to do was give us D1 but with a better and different story and 85% of the negative comments you've received so far wouldn't have existed. Instead, you somehow made the game worse than D1. You took all your progress and threw it away. I know why you did it, you wanted even more money than what the DLC's could provide on their own. I understand, and if you could have somehow fixed your mistakes or even been honest about why you instituted the Eververse in the first place then i could have probably forgiven you. But you can't, every single press release says the exact same thing and you keep making the same mistakes over and over again. I've watched each new press release with apology after apology and promise after promise just to be broken or rendered obsolete by the next post where you get caught doing something naughty. It's like watching a pathological liar explain itself to a crowd of people who all have very detailed notes on what its done. Or more accurately like watching the dev team see what they can get away with while also trying to get everyone in the marketing department fired just for lols. Funny, but ultimately fruitless. With the Iron banner announcement it seems like you had finally figured it out, you didn't get caught messing anything up and you were actually forthcoming about your plans and then this shoe dropped. You might have legitimate reasons for implementing this restriction now but it honestly just comes off as you're tired of criticism for this crappy game. But guess what? You don't get to make that choice, you created this alpha release of a AAA title, charged full price for it, and then sent it out to us to be tested and refined into an actual game so you don't get to run away. You have to sit here and take it because you messed up and until you get tired of hearing that every single day until you at least get back to D1 then you deserve it. The thing you don't get is that the most vocal people telling you how to fix your game are the ones who are constantly playing it, not some internet randos trolling you for fun. The only thing you've accomplished with this announcement is guaranteed that there will be more people on the forums commenting on how stupid this is instead of playing your game. If i wasn't tired of your shenanigans before then i definitely am now. Maybe I'll try again if you ever make a destiny 3, because by that time it'll probably be what D2 was supposed to be but i just really don't feel like giving you any more of my money. Get your act together before you get closed down and the government bans loot boxes for the terrible business practice that it is. And if you truly want to go out of business, keep doing what you're doing. TL:DR: Bungie messes up again, i'm not buying anymore of your games.

So, my question to you guys is, are you looking solely for feedback on your most recent ip? Because if so, you may want to be a bit more open about it. The way I see it, the current changes upset the community for 2 major reasons: 1. There was a very short window of notice from your community managers. These individuals are already part of a team under fire for being lackluster at communicating upcoming changes to the game and Bungie related topics. 2. This shuts out all non-D2 tethered players from communicating about current, public happenings about the studio or relevant sub topics in the game. Because if how widely these are seen as major issues, I suggest offering a swift explanation to the users of BUNGIE.net why they have been seemingly shut out in favor of Destiny2.net. May I suggedt an alternate option to approach filtering feedback? You may have already considered it, but since I cannot be sure until we hear from you on the matter, here it is. [ The development of a filter system for major forum topics would allow community members to have conversations within sub-topics but would restrict unrelated content from being entered into a post. This system would follow a topical hierarchy beginning with a user travelling to an appropriate topic, and beginning a post in this place. The site flow would be as follows: User enters B.net > User travels to a Forum tab > the forum tab contains a selection of Major Forums for topics relevant to Bungie (these include your ips, Community Creations, and Bungie Studios) > User selects a Major Forum > from here they are asked to pick a Minor Topic as a sort of filter (similar to how things are now, just re-thought to direct players to the appropriate conversation) > the user selects to make a post in the appropriate forum and topic > (THIS IS THE JUICE) after the post has been typed up, a built in parsing system should check for the following: 1. Appropriate and relevant language for said topic 2. Relevant tags to the topic such as #activity, #lfg, #destiny2, etc. 3. Checking the user's history for strikes or previous post bans All of these will add up to a tally system that determines whether or not the user's post is appropriate for the current topics and forum section. ] With that out of the way, I'm sure you have more reasons for putting the current changes forward, and, yes, I do realize this would have been an investment of both time and money. However, it would have left you with far fewer disgruntled community members than placing 1 hard filter into place with a very confined announcement window.

                • You are not getting any more money from me. Your set your priorities to make content for microtransactions and to now silence criticism. Hope this is enlightning for you bungie. Because i cant support a company that time and time again lies to its community and now wants to censor them.

I agree with this change in policy. Hopefully this will alleviate some of the negativity on these forums. There are definitely valid complaints about this game and I understand why people feel the need to make negative comments. Continuing to complain without offering solutions does not help the problem, and continuously complaining doesn't really help the community even though you might feel better by boosting your ego. The fact is that if you really care about this game and community then you are a player and none of these new stipulations should make any difference to you at all.
