Sign if you never went Flawless, and don't care!!
As someone who initially started the game as a strictly PvE player during launch, I was surprised when I looked at my gaming time and found that Crucible was now my number 1 activity. I'm still shocked that I have so much fun with PvP when all other FPS PvP games never interested me in the least.
That said, I could never stand Trials. Partly because Elimination is just a dull game mode to me due to its relatively slow pace, partly because of the negative culture it created (paid carries, elitist attitudes, etc.), but mostly because it forces most players to play the current meta if you wanted to go all the way which is just boring.
I revisited a few times over the years, but if anything its only gotten worse since Y1, and for all those reasons I decided long ago that I wasn't going to bother just for some so-so weapons and armor skins. If they add some variety to the game mode and can balance the PvP meta a bit better I'll give it another go in D2, but I'm not sad in the least to see D1 Trials go.
[b]EDIT:[/b] Thanks for the great feedback everyone. To address the general sentiment of "If you're posting, you care." It's OK. You're allowed to like Trials. Just because some of us don't doesn't diminish your achievements. I was more posting to illustrate that people shouldn't put so much emphasis on it. There is a large part of the community who loves it and that's cool, but a lot of us just don't care even if we really like PvP otherwise. We'll see what becomes of it in D2, and with some changes (Different game type, address DDoS/Cheaters, address the paid carry culture) I might even spend some time with it, but as it stood in D1 it's my opinion that it was kind of a mess and not worth my time.

I've never been flawless, been closeish but never made it. Don't think I even attempted in year three. PvP is not for me, I suck at it to be honest, I would have loved to go flawless so in one sense I care, but I didn't care enough to attempt to in year three and once the t-shirt offer had ended, it ended all motivation to attempt it anyway. Maybe I will make it one day in D2, there's always hope.

Tried many times but only ever got to six wins once. Pathetic, I know. But it was a lot of fun to try. I hope they bring it back so I can have fun trying and failing some more.

I went about 70 times between the three psn accounts I bounce between, but it was always stressful and angering even though I played a ton of it

Made it to 8 three times. My time consisted of the one good player, me who was just decent but tried hard, and flopped between the rager and the guy who didn't care

1 ReplyI was carried and don't care to admit that. In standard pvp I do fairly well and my latest character has about a 1.5kd but as soon as I set foot in trials I get stomped. After playing this game since year one and helping as many people as I could through aspects of pve I felt like being helped to get to the lighthouse just once wasn't unreasonable.

Only went flawless 4 times. Each time it was the most underwhelming thing in the game. The rewards where trash and the light house doesn't make sense as a social space with no NPC's or kiosks.

7 RepliesNever cared to go flawless, except for the Grimoire score. But sniping is just so broken in this game. 3 HCR shots to the face from a scout and they are still able to pull off a head shot. Should not happen as often as it does IMO

When it was first introduced into the game I went into it solo, realized you needed a team because bungie hates using match making for some end game modes, and never went back since. /sign

I only got to seven wins in ToO once, and that was helped by the fact one of the teams we faced apparently suicided itself for tokens. I just was never going to get to The Lighthouse without being utterly carried -- and candidly, what's the point in that, other than to sample the scenery one time? I know my limitations. I'm 53 years old and I will never be deemed an elite player in any element of Destiny - this or its future iterations. I play because I have fun and enjoy the company of those who are willing to tolerate my errors. There are many in this great community that do so. That's what makes any game worthwhile, IMHO. Anyway, your own post seems to be aimed at the same sentiments, which I applaud.
