To the gullibles pre ordering...

I'll downvote this so you don't get the one and only satisfaction you get on here. For the people wanting to know how you pre ordering damages the industry, well if you really care about your money and your self respect then here you go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mf5Uj4XIT1Y Totalbiscuit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7zxKMSSM4U Boogie2988 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm4JCFONptk Jimquisition These guys are very close to the gaming industry and know what they're talking about, to disagree would be to disagree with facts. If you pre order which a lot of you already have, good for you. You've only been beaten down and told you're trash but you keep on coming back. There is so much proof on Youtube that shows how pre ordering is damaging the gaming industry, but you can't get it through your heads. Sad....really. The only reason you guys look gullible as you are is because there is no gameplay trailer, they haven't talked about what's in the game, how the game looks, what it's about. All you got was Cayde making jokes, kind of like this game, not even the characters can take this game seriously. Why are you guys?

These kind of posts all have one thing in common: False equivalency. "Games are bad right now, pre-orders are up = pre-orders are the reason games are bad." News Flash: There has always been 10 bad games for every 1 good game. "But because of pre-orders, retailers are giving exclusive content to some gamers/platforms and not to all. If there were no pre-orders, everyone would have access to all the content." Nope. Those exclusives are simply marketing tools. They'd just be bundled with launch day/week purchases via access codes. Gamestop would have a blue weapon skin, PS store would have red one, and XB would be orange. Are some of these practices shady? Sure, not gonna argue that. But: 1. They'd be going on regardless of pre-orders or not. 2. Name an industry that doesn't have shady shit going on with it. You can't. Pre-orders are just a scapegoat for unhappy customers. Consumers are partly to blame for this as well. We allow ourselves to be caught up in hype, not just from what we're fed by publishers, but also the excitement and expectations we build up within ourselves.

  • Or we could show no interest in the game and force Activision to pull the funding for this game so it comes out terrible. That's a much better solution! Anyways, I'm preordering the normal edition for now. I like shooting aliens, and D2 won't be any different in that regard, so they don't have to show me much. They're not going to magically turn it into an RTS game.

    • Is it still bad if I pre-order the game the day before launch, when we know almost everything about it?

    • Lmao. I paid 5 measly dollars to A) get a smooth little Cayde figurine B) have access to the beta C) guarantee me a copy when the game releases At any point between now and game release, I can change my mind and actually get my $5 back. And I do not have to return the toy! Seems like a great deal for a test drive.

      • YouTube warriors are damaging the gaming industry more than a stupid preorder bundle. YouTube Warriors: 1. Tell gamers how to play a game 2. Dictate information from companies for monetary value. 3. Are as profit motivated as gaming companies. 4. Only care about target audience ideas if it boosts subscriptions. Gaming Companies: 1. Offer season pass and other items to help promote preorder sales. Gets mixed reviews for gouging consumers. 2. Care about your wallet more than consumer preferences. 3. Understand target audience demands hype to produce more sales so they market heavily on this concept. Gets backlash for gouging. YouTube Warriors and Gaming Companies are both profit / monetary motivated. A gaming company is at least producing a product that you can physically touch and enjoy. YouTube Warriors only produce ideas.... not products. I'd rather feed an industry that produces a product I consistently enjoy. Bungie has had their faults, but they're product is better than a personal video produced in some dudes spare bedroom. Is preordering destroying the gaming industry? No.... it's called marketing towards your target audience. Tax evasion and security fraud are examples of bad business practices. Marketing to what your consumers demand is not. Just because you and a bunch of monetary, thought driven narcissists believe gaming companies are being unfair and gouging.... doesn't make it a bad business practice. These companies know how to be successful and they know how to market a product. You don't. Preordering a game is not bad business, it's not ruining the gaming industry, it's not unfair. It is a trend companies have slowly developed that have helped promote and sell a product. A game with no extras will only fail.

        • Geeze all these people just out here trying to bait people into not playing Destiny and Destiny 2. It happened during the first beta now it's happening again. You guys are funny if you think it's gonna change anything worth a damn saying to not buy a game series people like. Even if a series was shit people would like it if they enjoyed it. Personally I'm buying the game/pre-ordering it because 1. I missed out on the physical ghost edition the first time around and 2. because I loved destiny 1. Maybe not so much the raiding part and the Tryhards of Osiris parts, but I had fun. I liked the atmosphere of being a last hope for a species, trying to protect them, and make the world a better place by destroying the evil that is the darkness. I play games for the escapism, so I can get away from the mundane bullshit real life gives us and me. Especially as a retail worker that has to deal with the dumbest of -blam!-ing people. It helps me vent my frustrations on things I see are evil.

        • You a funny guy. I get that some people don't have money or are young or don't have a job or have to go to their parents for games and stuff. I get that they may not be able to afford the deluxe edition. Well, i don't have that worry. I work. I save. I go on holiday. I buy new fancy stuff. I work. I save. I play. I've probably spent about £200 on Destiny. No regrets. Pre ordered base game. Pre order expansion 1 and 2 in year 1. Pre ordered taken king. Pre ordered Rise of Iron. Played the -blam!- outta the game over 2.5 years. You wanna hate on the game? well you go on right ahead. Hate it. I don't care. But let's get one thing straight: don't tell me how to live my life. You ain't got that right. If i wanna throw money at my god damn screen, i will.

          • So dudes ranting on YouTube are "facts," now? Hate to break it to you, Princess, but just because you don't want to preorder doesn't mean others shouldn't. And you really, really shouldn't try to lecture anyone on economics until you understand at least the basics. The fact is that for a lot of us, the price of a game doesn't even qualify as beer money. Even worse, it's our money and we can spend it however we want. Worse than that, even, we can like Destiny even if you don't. I know it's a lot to take in all at once, so take it slow, and have Mom bring some more Dew down to the basement while you process reality.

            • You do realize that you can cancel a pre-order? If the beta is no good and not worth it I'll just cancel, sounds rather simple. And I fail to see how my $5 deposit is damaging the industry. But as you said, I must be disagreeing with facts...because it came from the internet, so it must be true...

              1. My primary satisfaction is basically ignoring people like yourself and doing what is in my own best interests. Which is to pre-order games that I know I'm going to purchase and play. NEVER presume to tell me what to do with MY money. 2. Business is business is business. Anyone who thinks that not pre-ordering will make developers make better games is fooling themselves....or is naïve. If people stop pre-ordering, the only thing that will happen is that resources that used to go into making games, will then be diverted into marketing to hype up early sales. Just like there was a big dust up in Medicine about 10 years ago about how low-cost drug company perks (pens, pencils, notepads, etc...) "biased" doctors and their prescribing patterns. So there was this push by many hospitals to "forbid" the drug sales reps from giving these sorts of things to doctors so that they would not be "unduly influenced" by such advertising. What did the drug company's do? DID THEY TAKE THAT MONEY AND USE TO MAKE BETTER DRUGS, OR SELL THEIR DRUGS FOR LESS MONEY? NO!!!! They stopped advertising to a INFORMED prescribers....and simply started advertising to UNINFORMED patients. So the patients showed up at the doctor's offices clamoring for the "newest" and "latest" (which means "best" in their minds) drug for their condition. Or whatever "condition" the TV and magazine ads convinced them that they had. TLDR: This is not about "pre-ordering vs not pre-ordering". ITS ABOUT BEING A MATURE, INFORMED CONSUMER WITH REASONABLE EXPECTATIONS FOR THE PRODUCT THEY ARE PURCHASING. Something that gamers'---as a group----fail miserably at. You can be an informed consumer, and still pre-order. You can choose not to pre-order...and still be a poorly informed one with unreasonable expectations for what your buying. Bottomline, gamers need to act more like adult consumers, and less like drug addicts jonesing for their next fix, and raging if they don't get it. Or the "high" they expected.

                • pre orders don't really say much. They do give a company that perhaps sales are going to be at a certain level and they can make sure they have x amount of copies ect. However it's the sales that matter. You can pre order without buying, and can buy without pre ordering. Companies like pre orders for the above reason, and they often give incentives for doing so. If you plan on buying it regardless, and lets face it, many people already know they are going to buy their favorite franchise game even if they know nothing about it, or may not be looking forward to a certain aspect of it. Then there really is no point in not pre ordering, and getting the bonus things.

                • Destiny is a 3 year old game that I am still playing. So there is far more than a CGI trailer to base my pre-order on. And getting Beta access for pre-ordering is gravy. Especially considering we all can cancel our pre-order the second after we boot up the Beta and decide it is more of the same. Guilible we are not. So get off your high horse and STFU.
