Sadly it's true.
For some of us with disabilities it's a meaningless (and at times hurtful) phrase thrown at us.
Our KDs are laughed at
Our ELO becomes the topic of mirth.
But we carry on regardless.
Why ?. Because our struggle is real. Every little achievement is that much sweeter because we've worked for it. It's not a natural gift of split second reflexes and hand-eye coordination but a slow often painful process where we've died a million times before doing something you've probably done in your sleep.
To anyone out there who has befriended, supported, teamed with or match made with someone with a disability,
Thank you.
Edit : this was meant as a thank you. Unfortunately I've been accused of demanding sympathy, pity, playing the disabled card etc. I have re-read what I wrote and I'm pretty sure I'm thanking people for their friendship and support...
But I will try again.
Thank you. Thank you for making Destiny enjoyable.
Is that clearer ??

1 ReplyEdited by GIRLIE-GIRLL: 1/3/2017 10:16:05 PMOP, forget the haters, don't change what you posted just because some fools have expressively dark hearts. I don't mind helping random ppl who msg me when I'm in the tower. Quite frankly, that's why we have fireteams, right?! Nobody is asking for sympathy, it reads as a simple thank you. #GuardiansGotNoChill #NoLove

3 RepliesEdited by DrBoxOfRocks: 1/3/2017 1:43:56 AMNo one's cares. Stop Spamming the forums with this crap. Can we please just talk about Destiny? Can a Ninja move this to off topic please?

1 ReplyThere's nothing wrong with that. But don't try to change the game to cater to you or try to make anything easier for you, that's all.

8 RepliesThere are some gamers with disabilities that stomp shut up with your pity party scrub.

My K/D is trash because I'm a hyper aggressive Sunsinger. Fabien Strategy to.

1 ReplyI don't bring up a persons stats, unless there being a dick or a shit head or they have a stupid post. I don't just say it to make someone feel bad about them selves.

2 RepliesSome people are just better than others. That applies to all things in life. It's not your job it's just something to pass the time. I'm sure you've gotten better overt time. Trust me my kd is horrible because I'm not a meta master and I don't really care. Only place kd matters is trials and maybe a few other game modes like banner just because you get rewards for ranking or rewards for beating teams for a goal. Rngesus controls end of match rewards.

1 ReplyEdited by THUNDERCHILD: 1/3/2017 7:40:01 PMDont worry about the anti disability monsters, theyre just common bigots and theyll always be there. Pitty the poor parenting that raised them. Sad. I struggle with dissability every day and appreciate your post.

1 ReplyHelped a guy and his deaf son beat Crota in year one. It was fun. He would sign to him before each part and the kid would do the same back during game play.
-
2 Repliesif everyone just "got gud" wouldn't the entire population actually not notice.. think about it.. we only know people are good or bad based on quantifiable numbers.. if everyone got better, nobody would realize it because the curve just moved.. entirely.

18 RepliesWhy does everyone mention ELO, a mean they are a brilliant group, Mr blue sky, rockaria, etc but its not for this forum surely

11 RepliesI just don't get why people are bad at video games in general. Idk if its the fact that I've been playing since a kid but sometimes people are just so bad it hurts. I honestly believe people who can't even be good at a video game are slow in the head. When tough moments come up your adrenaline comes up and all you have to do is imagine different scenarios of outcomes that your next move will have. For example in overwatch i get paired with teammates who seem like they are playing with one hand (I play PC so no "shitty console players" are not the issue) and I always tell them what to do step by step because in my head i already know how its going to play out if they do it as I told them too. Maybe im just too much of a gamer but I seriously can't imagine being so stupid and slow that I can't manage to be even decent in a video game.

1 ReplyEdited by NeoReaper82: 1/3/2017 8:14:23 PMYes we can. As getting good is the same as getting better & everyone can get better.

On the other hand, it's pretty bad when you're doing a raid and the only person NOT dying is the quadriplegic who's using nothing but his/her mouth to play the game... Hats off to those who persevere and don't let the ignorance of others put them down for not "git'n gud" despite their severe set backs :)

1 ReplyPer your edit...no matter how you state it,some toxic, hate filled player is going to take what you say as an opportunity to trash talk and berate you. Personally this community sucks because of it.

4 RepliesBravo to you! There are a number of good people out there. Don't let the idiots get to you. You should stand with pride, and know that self esteem is determined by you alone, and not by the ignorant and petty insults thrown at you. They don't know who you are - only YOU do - hence the "self" in self esteem. Hey - I suck, and I have NO excuse!! :0 BTW, I am 60y/o, just took up gaming a few years ago, and really, I am not hung up on how good or bad I am. I play solely for fun and enjoyment. The try-hards are welcome to their world of sweat and toil - God bless 'em - I hope they afford me the same choice to be cavalier.
-
I play with someone who is colourblind fairly regularly. So I try to help everyone when I can. Which is not right now.

2 RepliesI think being an asshole is the biggest disability of them all. Your post was heartfelt and well put.

4 RepliesI'm pretty good at this game but people who say "git gud" have a 90% chance of being <15 years old

A couple of weeks ago I joined a group of randoms. After doing phase one of Aksis we had 5 mins while someone had a toilet break. We noticed for the first time that there were only 5 people in chat. Thinking this would hinder us for the challenge mode we invited tree missing guy to the chat, but got no response. I decided to message him as they were going to kick him. Whilst doing so I noticed he was deaf. A few still wanted to kick him but I urged to give him a chance; he was on the right with me anyway. 2 messages to him sorted things out and we proceeded to do the challenge first try.

Ignore the haters. The chances are they are all 12 year old tryhards. Play for fun, not to "git gud" as the shotgun warriors say.

1 ReplyDude add me please! I don't know you but I like your thought process. I'm on ps4. I've only been doing strikes lately. But if need be, I'll jump headfirst into the pvp fray with you guardian! GT: xNefarious1x

125 RepliesEdited by FrenetiCreature: 1/2/2017 8:06:39 PMTotally, I get you. I was really f****d up in a motorcycle accident. I was paralyzed from it, but later on, I ended up with an infection. I went septic. My blood pressure went really low, so they had to put me on pressers. That medicine caused my legs and hands to die. It looked exactly like I had frost-bite on my legs and hands. Anyway, I ended up losing my legs, just above the knee (I couldn't use them anyway since I was already paralyzed, so whatever.), and most of my right hand. Somehow, my left hand escaped mostly unharmed, even though it looked as bad as the right one did at first. It's just kinda slow sometimes. So now, I only have "nubs" for fingers on my right hand, and my thumb is contracted, which means I can only move it a tiny bit. So... I can't shoot and move the "look" stick at the same time, because my fingers aren't long enough. So, I have a really hard time trying to "track and shoot" at the same time. But I've gotten pretty decent at shoot, then move my hand down so I can push the reticle over to line it up, shoot again, move the stick, shoot again. I also have a hard time hitting buttons, since whatever finger I do have left, is all permanently numb. Ha ha! It sucks, but oh well. I still have fun most of the time. People give me crap about my stats a lot, but I really don't give a crap. I actually feel accomplished that I can even get kills, because most people that know me, and I tell them that I play Xbox, usually look at me kinda funny, and ask, "How the heck do you play video games with your hand like that?" I also never mention it when people blow me sh!t about my stats, because I don't like to "blame stuff" on it. Plus, I just... I don't know exactly what I'm wanting to say here, but... I don't want to give them the satisfaction of having some circumstance to "pity" me, like... "Oh, that's why you suck, because your hand is all f'd up.", if that makes sense. Also because, I feel like, even though I do have a disability, I can still be as good as anyone else. It's just gonna take me longer to be able to get the muscle memory, and to figure out how to get my hand to cooperate with what I want it to do. I will get there. I may not ever be the best. But, I will be good, someday, and not "good, considering my disability". Lol!
