Feedback On the Forums (Part 3)

Part 1: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/210866255 Part 2: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/210866329 Looking in and standing far to the outside of both groups, to me, both of these new and relatively recent creations of theirs are nothing more than an element and an attempt to bolster both of their popularities; just another tool in their arsenals to incite attacks if you will. To those of you still reading, I do not know about you, but that is how I see it. I also see both sides laden with vast amounts of hypocrisy. I have watched and read their many posts, both accusing the other of what they attempt to secretly do themselves and that is indeed poor. Their group supporters seem to operate on the exact same itinerary. Everyone wonders why Bungie never pays attention really to their own forums and focuses their attention over at reddit and twitter. Did anyone ever think that perhaps the communication problem originates from right in here? Have these forums become so polarized and vindictive that Bungie already knows they do not have to focus here, that the infighting is so great that the development teams know that no real resistance or applauding of their decisions, both good or bad will ever truly materialize? I know that is a bitter pill for all of us to have to sit and face. It is something that is really easy to want to deny as even a partial truth. I certainly have contributed to it with some salty postings in the past when I played Destiny, out of frustration with Bungie. Looking back I am not proud of those. I guess would ignore this place too and focus my effort in other areas seeing if I was a developer. Yes, I know full well that does not give Bungie a pass or even provide an excuse for their lack of communication in the early days, but it certainly does now. We were already in the minority here in terms of numeric playerbase representation for Destiny, so the developers would be inclined to ignore us simply based off of that tenet alone. I cannot help but believe we actually assisted in extinguishing our own feedback fires. In conclusion, I’m sure some of you will wonder what I am still doing here if I am so dismayed at the state of the forums and Destiny and also since I do not play the game anymore. Well, the reason I stayed here was because of the people. It was interesting for me to stop in and read people’s new feedback takes on Destiny and where they felt it should go. It was even interesting for me to keep abreast of Destiny’s issues after I left as I was curious to see what Bungie would do with it. I was intrigued at the direction the game took and how different things had become from the first year. Perhaps I was and still am subconsciously hoping and desiring for just some semblance of the game I originally saw back in 2012 and 2013. I was willing to overlook the salt and ignore the troll posts. Even after their big schism (which now seems like a distant memory) I still enjoyed reading, seeing, and replying to the ideas of the two who were at one time the biggest driving force and voice this forum had, even bigger than DeeJ. I both frequently and infrequently talked with supporters of both those sides in here as well those two and enjoyed doing so. I do not any longer. I have watched them stoop to levels I never thought they would lower themselves to and several have mystified me greatly on different occasions with their actions and writing. People I once regarded as those with supreme writing skills and provided feedback with distinction, how low they have gone. Then again, I do not know them in person, but only through this electronic box, so maybe I always had them figured wrong. Guess that would be egg on my face now wouldn’t it? It was my hope that perhaps people in here, given enough time, would be able to put aside those differences and past events, and stop using these forums as a platform of solely increasing popularity and a hatchet wagon; instead of choosing to unify as a gaming community in order to assist in ensuring that what remains of Destiny along with the future Destiny 2 which would be great for gamers of all different walks. I no longer see that ever coming to fruition. All I see is two large communities of gamers and their founders, who harbor such a resentment for each other’s groups and beliefs that it has become all they focus on any longer, whether they know it or not; forgetting what they originally once stood for and how they used to interact with others. That my friends, is what I regard as the most disheartening issue in here. Rapiemur To those of you who never changed your stripes this whole time, props to you as it is well deserved, particularly given this type of environment and what has transpired. You know who you are.
