The campaign's main problem is that the story was hardly anything that was advertised
Chief and Locke fight in like a single scene and then later in the game Locke is like, "hey man, let's team up even though it'll be awkward as hell because I just punched you and tried to arrest you and all." In no part of the game do you feel like you're on a man hunt for the Master Chief and when you're "hunting the truth" the truth already becomes clear like close to halfway near the end of the game. There were even missions where you just walk around toward a little marker, cutscene, done, next mission. The campaign basically pulls a Halo 2 on us being that it has a PAINFUL cliffhanger and the final mission was a Osiris level. "Did they run out of money or something?" -Watchmojo
The actual gameplay's good - the problem is that your AI teammates make things a little too easy, especially at first, so it might be best to play on heroic, not default normal
Beyond the fact that the chief's sidelined in his own game, the biggest disappointment is that the campaign's far too short
It's not what was advertised, but I still found it quite enjoyable. Fire fights often happen in big areas that give you plenty of options of how to approach it.
The PvP is excellent in my opinion.
The campaign was average at best though. It's nothing like it was advertised to be which was quite disappointing. They decided to go a bit of a cliche route with it (which I won't spoil) which was not what anyone was expecting after the hype.
You might like the campaign but for me personally it might be the worst one yet.
But like I said; PvP is excellent. That is where you'll most likely enjoy the game the most.
