I do, unfortunately, expect hateful responses to what I have to say, but what can I do about that? The ignorant will reply.
Anyhoo, not everyone celebrates the pagan holidays(Halloween, Christmas, & Easter). My convictions, for example, are against them. Bad enough they are all around me in real life, since it's part of the culture. Do I really need it shoved down my throat in my video game playing too??? Seriously, it's bad enough I see it all around me now in Destiny, but on top of that, I have people all around the tower trying to give me candy, and the (unwanted)Jackolytes drop from enemies?!? I think I'm about to pick up a silken codex, but instead it's a jackolantern! I don't want it. I don't plan on scaring away the evil spirits with it. DON'T GIVE IT TO ME. Seriously, Bungie??? Please stop.

3 RepliesHalloween is very seldom celebrated in its old Pagan context. It is now largely celebrated as a secular holiday, celebrated for the costumes, fun, and adrenaline of fright. It's more about scaring your best friend than pleasing the dead as it used to be. I doubt even 10% of the people here know where the holiday originally came from and what it was originally about. The same goes for Christmas. They're secular now - they have lost most of their religious meaning. That being said, your best bet to avoid it is, unfortunately, to just not play. There's no way to opt out of it. The event will be over in 6 days.

Git gud skrub

just send bungie a feedback stating that you don't want any festivals in their games. they might actually see it, in the sea of feedback from ppl that do want festivals.
-
2 RepliesDon't worry Bungie plans to add: Hanukkah, atheist day, worship God day, hail Satan day, and everything in between. So that everyone is equally butt hurt just as you are, my friend.
feel free to add anything worth celebrating that I didn't mention.
1 ReplyEdited by IZanderI: 11/3/2015 7:22:05 PMNo one is forcing any holiday down your throat, you don't have to take part if you don't want to. Don't use the jackolytes and you don't even have to accept the candy collecting quest. Most of us that like Halloween or in this case The Festival of the Lost only celebrate it because it's fun and have no association with or care about its pagan origins.
-
You're not being forced to do anything you don't have to accept the quest in the first place. As for the environment change its just like in real life the environment changes to suit the holiday. You can argue but I paid good money for this game and it shouldn't be forced on me, well you also pay rent or a mortgage as do other people sharing the same surroundings as you and if they choose to celebrate it then you have no say. So stop being a special snowflake and trying to ruin a holiday that majority of people partake in you are the minority and bunige caters to you in a minor way, by giving you the option to not accept that quest. So sit down and get over yourself.

What religion celebrates festival of the lost?
-
4 RepliesOther mmos have events, no one cares. Its just a bit more fun added into the mix. Stop being such a drag.
-
Festival of the Lost is not a real holiday. The fact that you don't comprehend that is no ones fault but your own.
-
Edited by I 4ToZeRo I: 11/3/2015 7:21:49 PMHappy Halloween! Merry Christmas!
enjoy Easter as well
If you are genuinely that turned off by it, then stop playing, turn it off. Whether you like it or not, its their right to put whatever they want in their game. In turn its your right to stop playing. But, and its a big but, if you keep playing despite your convictions, it looks like you are willing to bend your beliefs to play a video game. Just my opinion.
-
4 RepliesWhile these holiday u speak of are based on old pagan days, they do not represent what they did to the pagans. The days all coincide for conversion purposes and as far as what u want... If u are not adult enough to just move on. Ur parents should not have bought u the game. If this is satire... It was put together in a piss poor manner.
-
Well suck it up and get over it. I'm an atheist and the holidays don't bother me at all.
-
I guess it's a good thing this wasn't an actual "Halloween" even. Just a similar festival of light/whatever... Just be happy the added new content, even for such a stupid purpose
-
Don't play during certain holidays that cause offence, Destiny is a really good game but it's not the only game out there. Play something else to limit your exposure I am not ignorant FYI
-
You have a choice to not play the game. Exercise it.
-
Everything in the world is offensive to someone , get used to it
-
Happy Samhain!
-
It's the festival of the lost. Fairly confident it's not aimed at any one religion/set of beliefs, and is actually more of a overall time of remembrance.(Halloween has nothing to do with religion at this point if it ever did, and I believe a few religions have days of remembrance during this time)
-
Last year it was "need more events other than Iron Banner and Trials". This year its "don't have events even remotely similar to current holidays". People wanted events, and they are making events. And unlike last year, the Festival of the Lost is more than "here's 3 Jackolytes GTFO". Enjoy what you can get.

2 RepliesOh boo hoo see people who can't look at something someone else is okay with and be like, "ah I don't believe in it but thts cool carry on" are imo the worst people imaginable. Just let people have things tht u don't believe in most mmo have a winter holiday seasonal event that generally resembles Christmas, why because that's what the majority view holidays as. Stop being so offended by everything. Like seriously just continue on its really not that hard. I don't believe in the Christian Christmas but do I care that decorations go up? No. I think they are awesome and make for a festive time. Boo hop please don't reproduce people like u ruin the world.
-
Lmao dude the world doesn't revolve around you if you don't like it don't play for those handful of days get over yourself and complain about something real
-
Just when I thought I couldn't have possibly read anything dumber today, this comes along...
-
This is life, you do not always get what you want and is hardly ever fair. If you still have not reached this conclusion you have a bit of growing up to do my friend.
-
Sell the game
-
Then just -blam!-ing ignore it
