50% of weapons used by winners in Trials was thorn. Bungie was quick to act when suros was the most used, what's with the holdup, Deej?
Heres the list to check for yourself. No land beyond was higher than Suros and someone won with Khovostov. Credit to SpiffyJr on Reddit, i found the image originally on Twitter.

Edit: this isn't a thorn cri post, i have one and use it here and there. This is a post attempting to bring light to the fact that the guns are horribly unbalanced in Destiny pvp. Im a sniper, please keep using shotties doesnt matter to me. However, fusions are terrible, shotties run crucible along with handcannons and everyone just wants to say "stop with the nerfs!!"
>30% of players use the Suros Regime during a game mode where there's a bounty to get headshots with auto rifles
>nerfed into the ground
>50% of players use Thorn in a game mode where the whole point is to use you best gear
>nothing
The hypocrisy is delicious.
So basically 20% of people trying to do a bounty is unacceptable, but 50% of people using a gun is perfectly fine. LOL

Your last link is stupid as overpowered is a matter of perspective. While I agree, it is still perspective. Also you're right! They needed autos hard... And look at the uproar that still remains.

13 RepliesLook, this is a very valid point. My question though it what else did you expect.?. In every call of duty or first person multiplayer shooter what was the overall main primary of choice?-a auto rifle/assault rifle.!!! I very much enjoyed using my legendary auto with field scout but now it's at a extreme disadvantage. This is not due to the thorn being so OP. It's due to the countless people complaining about auto rifles. The hand cannons are the only legitimate weapons left. It's 3-4 shots to head and your dead. What's wrong with that???? Are you hoping that's it's now 6 head shots before your dead. How on earth can any good player come up on two people and win with a 6 head shot kill when there's 9-11 in the mag?? It's like everyone forgets the hardcore tdm we all use to live and play-1 shot to the head and your done
-
Who cares. Only a fraction have the skill to aim and land shots before they get killed.

2 Repliesin the reddit thread the guy forgot to mention that TLW is even more OP than thorn because of how its bugged, making it a two shot headshot while ADSing. and unlike thorn they die as soon as the second bullet hits
-
7 RepliesMore and more guns are becoming good. I say thorn users loss fir not using the scholor, the messenger, last word, hawkmoon, and red death when in trials, with good team, they were very useful and viable.
-
Ahhhh stop whining you big crybaby desticles
-
4 RepliesHonestly a team of hawkmoons or a team of messengers is scarier to me than a team of thorns. It's too easily countered
-
7 RepliesI love how someone on reddit posts something and it's the gospel. Unless the numbers come from bungie, they aren't real
-
13 RepliesThorn owns ToO bc of how the DOT can force the other team to act in predictable ways. It's the only gun that does that, so we should expect usage to be high
-
2 RepliesFunny coincidence... The top 3 weapons for the ones who lost? Thorn, TLW, Felwinters lie in that order. Absolutely ZERO variety to guns you'll face for the most part. Question I had was where/ how was this data compiled? Some dudes personal experience? Some actual data bungie posted? Kinda makes a difference as to whether these stats are valid or not
-
That's the way it is. If you don't like it don't play.
-
Hunger of Crota is so #yolo
-
Totally balanced. Nothing to see here
-
Already posted.... Numbers said there are not 'real': - where did he get them from? Any real stat check should come with better sources than '5000 games'... why? because it needs to be reproduceable. One could also pick 5000 games 'not randomly' to influence the result one way or the other. - supposing he looked 5000 games on destiny tracker: you only see guns that got a kill with. So... there are a certain amount of players whose primary is unknown (no primary kill). That will bring Thorn usage likely more down (if they had Thorn, and it's soo OP, they should have had a kill) than up (though maybe it would bring it up)
-
Hand cannons are currently way worse than suros (i.e auto rifles) ever were. People were almost unanimous in their belief suros needed a nerf, but, apparently hand cannons are fine. I guess people just prefer handcannons.
-
4 RepliesThere is no way it is only 50%. EVERY single game I played had at least 2 thorns on the other team.
-
3 RepliesBungie could solve the thorn problem with one move... Make it to where lingering damage can not and will not kill you. Sure it can make you one shot and keep your health low for a longer amount of time, but you can not sit there and hide while lingering damage finishes off your opponent for you. Problem solved, majority of thorns gone. Thanks Bungie.
-
Figures #2 would be Felwinters..
-
1 ReplyUse a high impact pulse rifle and get good with it. It will beat thorn and has more range, not to mention it will open up an exotic secondary weapon. Sure thorn is annoying but instead of joining, get good with something else and beat it
-
3 RepliesThe issues with the Thorn: I addressed this in another post, but basically the main issue with having DoT damage as well as the high fire rate and impact that is parallel to the Fatebringer archetype means that you are doing a bunch of things all at once: -You are getting total damage of a hand cannon like Ill Will (slightly more actually) -You are firing at a much faster fire rate (about three times) -If you -blam!- up the kill, you delay the opponent's recovery by like 5 seconds -You can find the target while their recovery is delayed -You have the range of a sniper and pinpoint accuracy with Send It Basically, it results in a weapon that forgives you if you -blam!- up the kill and your opponent takes cover because you can find them and they will have low health, as well as does a total damage above the max impact weapons in the game but fires three times as fast. Add to that very long range and accuracy which negates the Hand Cannon blanket accuracy nerf that 1.1.1 brought along. I don't understand how people defend this.

people are dumb red death wrecks
-
1 ReplyNot really sure about those stats, but I'm pretty sure the high shotgun usage is a result of the small maps and blink. Destiny really screwed up with that one.

3 RepliesI was waiting for this data to come out. I'm frankly surprised that it's only 50% I had expected a higher usage rate.
