I'm afraid any H5 fanboys and 343 apologists are going to be disappointed.
This suggests that the majority of H5 beta players simply weren't interested in the game, only 2.5 hours played per player. I guess it will be a similar story on launch. RIP in peace Halo.
FYI the XB1 sold 10 million consoles in its 1st year where as there was only 9.3 million 360's sold by the time of H3's release, so don't try and use that old excuse on me.
Both were closed betas. H3 beta players needed Crackdown. H5 beta players needed MCC.
There is no excuse for this.
Again, H5 beta actually had more unique players but nowhere near the same amount of hours played. What an embarrassment.

Edited by Vgnut: 2/13/2015 7:25:01 AMHalo's just not as popular as it once was. The quality declines a bit with each release. When you think about it the apex of Halo quality was with Halo 2. That was over ten years and five game releases ago.

1 ReplyI played the halo 5 beta for about 15 minutes and never played it again. It was very boring in my opinion.
-
Well there wasnt anything really interesting enough to play at halo 3 days. It was all about the new halo back then. Now you've got plenty of games that can compete with halo so halo aint that interesting to play so long, And the gamer communtiy filled up with casuals. Who play 2 hours tops a day,

1 ReplyI'm pretty sure you're one of those that complain about CoD for being the same since MW2 but want halo to be the exact same thing every release. I can no longer take the Halo community serious when they say they want Halo to be the same as 2 and 3 but complain about CoD being the same as MW 2 and 3.

8 RepliesYou know, looking at this I still don't understand how this makes the game terrible. So, people didn't play it as much as Halo 3? Ok. Good to know. Does that make the game terrible?

Edited by banj0: 2/12/2015 12:05:32 PMTo be fair to 343, the market wasn't nearly as saturated with high-profile console FPS's in 2007. A smaller amount of people had less to play (no major indie games, digital distribution was virtually nonexistent and the PC scene was dead as a doornail outside of MMO's) I also don't think anyone is arguing Halo 5 is the apex of the series; considering it's approximately the 15 billionth Halo game to come out, and it's the middle entry in a 3-game arc, I'd say those numbers are pretty decent.

Halo 5 felt more like CoD AW.

Yes there is an excuse because 3 was the best nothing can or ever will match to that one game

2 RepliesEdited by Higgy-Doc: 2/11/2015 7:19:54 PMOn that Halo 3 being released in the summer excuse - I think it kind of makes sense. I mean you release a quality title before all the big hits like COD, Ass Ass Creed, and whatever else resembles a Ubisoft game. This way you build players and maintain a long standing community on the game, especially on Halo which usually has to hold the franchise up until the next big entry. In my opinion, besides it being not finished and genuinely hated, I think it's why Halo 4 flopped so hard so quickly. Black Ops 2 came out literally the week after and that consumed all the Halo players. I think releasing a game away from all the major contenders makes it stand out and solidifies its existence. Halo 5 will most likely be released in November like Halo 2 and Halo 4. I have more faith this time it will stand out on its own, like Halo 2 did, and be able to combat the other AAA titles. Will it make more money than Halo 4? I doubt it.

I played like 12 hours over 2 days during the early access. Yet I only managed 3 hours for the 3 week length of the full open beta. That's because the type of players who would get into an early access are generally more mature and skilled at Halo. When the open beta launched it basically became an online daycare for all the bad kids. And it was an Arena beta, so the bad kids had no other playlist to got to so they just ruined the whole competitive aspect of it.

3 Repliessorry but there is an excuse because this is exaggerated and not credible and its hilarious that you copied and pasted this straight form the waypoint forums

5 RepliesWhere did you actually get that statistic from? Because here is the chart 343i released. https://content.halocdn.com/media/Default/community/blogs/images/h5-beta-infographic-9620f1da5e024c8ca6e84a06a71df851.jpg This chart does not contain either number of unique players, or the average time they played. 343i themselves has not actually released a statement regarding the number of unique players either; the only source that gives the 1million statistic is an uncited IGN article.

4 RepliesIronic. You were once a 343 White Knight.

13 Replies>Logfish face it, you're a casual like most of us on these forums. And you are honesty trying too hard to refute other people's arguments about their opinions on a game. No one cares about your opinion. Go talk to a therapist if Halo 5 is such a big issue. You obviously need the help of you always argue

8 Replieslol 343 didn't even release a unique player count statistic. Nice attempt though. 6/10. See me after class.
-
I find this very difficult to believe as there must have been a mistake or you're reading the data slightly wrong. Idk even if it is true I can't talk I played the shit out of halo 3 because I was young and had no responsibilities and didn't play any halo 5 because I can't afford an x1 now. Maybe others are in the same boat?
-
8 RepliesI'm sorry but why do you even bother making these forums! Because every single halo topic I've been on you have always said something negative If you don't like halo then don't bother talking about it! Just stick with the games you like.

5 RepliesEdited by Logfish111: 2/9/2015 11:03:17 AMOk guys here it is, the full list of excuses that have been used for H5's failure in this thread so far: - I suck at H5 - People preferred to watch H5 on Twitch rather than play it - You have no official source (grasping at straws) - I don't care because I enjoyed the game (apparently the health of the franchise isn't important to these people, as if they won't all jump on the H5 sucks bandwagon as soon as it dies) - The Halo fanbase is a 'bunch of dumbasses' (because they didn't want to play a shitty game) - H3 beta benefited because it was released in the summer rather than the winter (still haven't figured this one out) - H3 beta only attracted a hardcore fanbase - I am so dumb it's not even laughable (don't know what this has to do with the objective statistics I posted) - I was on vacation (this is my favourite) - Halo is not as popular now (duh, because it's terrible, I think that's the point I was trying to make - Quantity of play time =/= amount of enjoyment (as if people who enjoyed the game would just stop playing after 2.5 hours) - Fans can't handle change (as if it's the fans job to appease 343's horrible game design) - This doesn't make the game bad (nope, but it indicates that it will die extremely quickly just like H4) Sit back and laugh at this pathetic behaviour. Halo truly is dead when you have people as clueless as this giving feedback on a beta.

I find it suspicious that H3 had exactly 12,000,000....

Halo 2! Halo 2!
