Just curious, I have noticed a trend in which more and more players blow right past most of the bad guys and race straight to the "Boss Fights" often to a point of leaving a teammate who is fighting the minions behind. I thought the idea was to have fun playing the game, it seems more and more people are approaching the game as a race to collect funds and gear and less and less about just having fun with the gaming experience. Seriously, how can it be just racing through two thirds of a strike/mission?
Am I off base in my observation?
Food for thought: Excluding Night-falls, Heroics and Raids most of the legendary or better stuff I have gotten have not come from dropping a boss but just some lowly minion. I still clearly recall my first legendary drop. I was doing the Cerberus Vae III strike, dropped a Legionnaire thought I saw a "Rare" item dropped although the coloring looked a little off. I just assumed it was the way the light was striking the item (Since I had never seen a legendary before). Well low and behold I had my first legendary item just from some minion.

Have you seen the price of bullets and batteries these days? Hand cannons and fusion rifles are costly to run. Can't be wasting bullets and batteries on unimportant stuff man!
-
2 RepliesBecause most people have done the strike tons of times and nothing changes. They just want to get in and get out.
-
No I'm grinding engrams
-
5 RepliesHave you seen cheesers, these people purposefully skip content to aquire gear. They have made it blatantly obvious people are more concerned with grinding out gear.
-
I rush through is everyone else is, I'm doing strikes for marks/rep until max for week, then do patrol/bounties rest if the week.
-
That's people. They think this is a loot driven game.
-
I’ve done every strike a ton of times so it’s now all about getting as many done in as short a time as possible in order to maximise my guaranteed rewards rather than hoping RNG gives me something from killing every low level enemy I come across.
-
Also, based upon your food for thought... I would also consider that grinding. You either rush through the mission to grind out guaranteed end rewards faster, or kill everything to grind out xp, glimmer and potentially a few engram drops.
-
If I do a strike through matchmaking I'll do whatever the other peeps wanna do. If they race through, I'm right behind them. If they want to take their time, I hang back. If one person races and the other stays back, I quit the strike.
-
Once you reach the higher levels, strikes are there for grinding.. Not necessarily for having fun. How can you possibly have fun doing the same strike over and over again with random people? It's all about the grind for gear. I would however say that the boss fights are still reasonably fun for the most part.. Whereas killing Dregs and shit along the way that you've seen a billion times before ._.

1 ReplyI didn't think I would say this, but after I got to 32 it just started to seem boring all together. Just repeating thesame things week in, week out
-
Problem is we already had fun the last thousand times we did the strike. Now it's just about getting through to the boss as quickly as possible.
-
Lots of people are slowly but surely losing interest in this game!

I find nothing fun of playing with total strangers. I don't want to talk to them and they most likely don't want to talk to me. If it is a strike playlist, I will only skip small portions of battles. But if I just randomly choose a strike, I'm doing it for a bounty and don't want to be doing it, so I'm skipping as much as I can
-
My flight along the way I generally try and go as fast as possible because that's fun to me. I like trying to get through in a super fast speed and wipe them all out. It Is really fun when you get a couple other people that like to do the same thing. I had an omnigrul strike it was finished around 8 minutes everyone chaining super after super, orbs everywhere.
-
I've noticed people doing this as well...why play if you just skip everything...
-
Sometimes I have fun but if I need a Vanguard or Crucible gun I need 150 marks. Also if I need strange coins before Xûr leaves I'm going to rush through everything so I don't waste time grinding and I can put that extra time into actually leveling the gear.
-
Ya it happens almost every strike I play getting left behind fighting minions oh well more glimmer,xp, and drops for me I guess
-
Strikes are played for rewards. By the time your done clearing a room of enemies you didmt have to kill i can wipe the 1st wave in the impprtant parts. The darkness zone. Its a strike. Beat it move on

Edited by Calen: 1/20/2015 2:08:41 PMThe Bad Juju exotic bounty has temporarily ruined strikes for me, normally I try to be thorough but when I need to complete 25 of these things, I'm less inclined to linger in an area and kill every last enemy.
-
Well it IS quite the fun to find new shortcuts through the strike ..
-
For some, I think it will depend. If I'm doing the strike without dying bounty and am doing it on a base level strike I rush through it just to get the bounty done. If I am doing the ROC strike, I do whatever my teammates are doing. I'm just doing those out of boredom.
-
1 ReplyI only do strikes when i have bounties for them i have a limited time so i just go as effecient as possible ...... i have no intrest in doing strikes whatsoever!!
-
I Like to play slow and kill everthing. But i dont bother if my teammate rushs and i dont rush if he died. Wait for respawn or be good enough to kill the boss alone.
-
1 ReplySee i have the opposite view. I get most my legendaries from the end. I used to kill everything but it has gotten so mundane and boring. Im usually just doing a bounty so I dont feel the need to kill everything.
