The idea is to get Bungie to read this. So Comment and/or add ideas. So for a LONG time people of the previous two games have seen alot of differences. Differences we haven't liked. Arguably these are the major things effecting game play. (lag not included) First is map size and player speed. We see a significant difference in Halo 1,2 and 3. Halo 1 every aspect of the game was simple and every map dominated in that simplicity. From 1 on 1 to a full lan party the maps reined supreme. When Halo 2 Came out the maps were similar in size to the first Halo. Although they seemed more complex they were just as intense in any game type. Halo 3 is when we start to feel the drag. Maps In general are significantly bigger, player speed is slower. (don't believe me go play Halo 2.) These two factors effect game play like this. On a map like Gemini (forgive the spelling) It was easy to get from one side of the map to the other not just by teleporter but by walking. In comparison Gemini is about the same size as Epitaph. So in turn player speed effects the team game types negatively. If you can't reach a team mate to aid him/her they will die.( Bump player speed to 110% or 125% ). Now if player speed was as fast as Halo 1 and 2. maps like Valhalla would make for some good gaming. OR remove the laser and only have 1 missile pod on the map. The reason is Because player speeds are so slow the ideal thing is to take the Wort hog or mongoose. but ya can't. because there are to many anti vehicle weapons (the laser and missile pod). I personally would gladly trade both of those for a scorpion. Now on to the weapon and mele damage, shields, and other things of that nature. Ok argue this if you must. But i saw nothing wrong with any of the damage stats on Halo 2. So I personally am asking bungie to consider have a test run of the Halo 2 fighting system on Halo 3. Changes would look like this. 1) Mele damage dropped so that one hit takes 1/2 of the player shields. (this would also make 90% of the complaints against the current mele disappear) This might also fix the Mauler+mele. 2) Shields adjustment. The time from when your shields are taken down to the time they are charging is slower causing less time of gaming and more deaths. Adjusting this will make it easy to run for cover and recharge your shields, then pop out and attack again. 3) Weapons damage to shields is reduced. Making it harder to kill the opponent and also giving both teams (in most situations)a chance to reinforce. 4) Explosions blast radius increased. I have actually, to the best of my ability, recreated the halo 2 stats on halo 3. Will Wright admitted to doing the same thing with one of the Sims games. As far as lag goes. In my opinion, Bungie crammed the game with some sweet goodies compromising the game play. Don't get me wrong they are AWESOME. I love every one of them. But when I can't enjoy the game for very long I tend to get torqued Again Comment add ideas.   • Ya..i agree except the more amo....the Old rockets were balanced because of the low ammo... only 2-4 rockets meant more wort hog time when they were done.. and when they came back you better be ready .

  • I have to say that I actually liked the BXR and RRX i found that it added another element of skill to the game. But technically they are glitches.

  • I think they should just take out the missile pod and replace it with the old lock-on rocket launcher. the missile pod is to powerful!!! they are impossible to dodge to!!!! the rocket launcher should just be a bit more powerful on vehicles only and have more ammo. that way you still have the infantray killer we all love, but it keeps up with the new vehicles and stuff

  • My biggest point is that i saw nothing wrong (except lag) with the halo 2 system. the only complaints i heard were as fallowed. BXR Modding Lagg (due to there horrible connection) Super bouncing. Stand byeing . In halo 3 we have multiple complaints against Mele Lag(And not the traditional lag. but a lack of a capable internet.) Inconsistencies in weapon fire and damage. And from the hard core players, 40% of the weapons require little or no skill to use. Some examples are the: The Missile pod Spartan Lazer Assault riffle (This is arguable.) The Mauler beat down. EXC. So to me it would make sense to continue to use a system that worked excellently and acualy took a good amount of skill to use and then convert it while eliminating things like modding and glitching. Instead what we see is a system thats is new users friendly and has made the gamers from 1 and 2 turned off due to the level playing ground. In response to me not playing halo 2 any more, well halo 2 does not have forge or the replay feature or screen shots or any other cool features. I bought halo 3 thinking it was gonna be almost the same as halo 2 except the sweet features. [Edited on 03.22.2008 8:44 AM PDT]

  • not trying to burst your bubble dude, but if you dont like halo 3 then just play halo 2, i mean Bungie is trying their hardest to make a new and fun game, i dont know about you but if halo 3 was exactly the same as halo 2 then why would you buy it, maybe halo 3 is just not the game for you, nobody is making you play it, so i mean i see what your saying but halo 3 is not halo 2, it never will be, and they arent going to change it just because

  • So i was looking at the weapons on Avalanche and there are no missile pods. There is one laser. but because of all the vehichles the only way i could see it ruining the map is if the respawn time is less then 40 seconds.

  • Good point black swordsman. However as we have already discussed in H2 you did move faster which meant that in every map you could get around more quickly. Good point though.

  • i agree with about 0% percent of what you said. i've been an avid player since CE and like it just how it is. just fix the sword. it should be able to kill you when you have an overshield.

  • ivory tower might technically have more space but its designed for more close quarter combat. In guardian you can usually pick off guys from a sizeable distance. (you can also get around much quicker in ivory tower than in guardian)
