I try to make the most civilized and polite posts that I can. I often suggest ideas to improve both the bungie.net and destiny experience and a lot of people like my ideas. However, there are also a LOT of people who disagree with my ideas. But instead of having a civil discussion with me, they lash out at me and then mute me. This is rather unfair because I am genuinely trying to promote good discussion. This is why I think there should be a way to remove a mute. A payment system that removes a mute and gives you special privileges depending on what you pay. Let me give an example:
$0.25 - Removes a mute that a user has set on you and gives you a 15 minute immunity from any mutes from that user.
$0.50- Removes a mute a user has set on you, gives you a 30 minute immunity.
$1.00 - Removes a mute, gives you 2 hour immunity.
$2.00- Removes a mute, gives you 24 hour immunity.
$20 per week subscription- gives you total immunity to any mutes.
Sure the 20 dollar deal will defeat the point of mutes, but people will be forced to learn how to ignore people, which to be honest is a more valuable skill to learn, because you cannot "mute" people you do not like in real life. You have to put up with them. What do you guys think?

Paying for unmuting just seems like a ridiculous idea to me. It wouldn't really serve a purpose, and it just gives trolls another tool to use. If someone's muting you for a valid reason, then you should be muted. If its for an invalid reason, then they're probably not someone worth talking to. I'd still rather have moderation done by a team though, rather than having a personal muting system. Though I do like the idea of the money going to the person who muted you. That would do a hell of a lot to increase quality discussion. At least I think it would.

Yes, great idea -____________-

1 ReplyI think if the payment is going to the user that did the muting, it's a great plan.

Edited by kingbloo123: 4/6/2014 3:16:14 AMI think the idea good in a way just some downfall to it. If they add a delay time on the person that pay to get unmute that take away the abuse and if u feel like it still abuse there can be a report botton for that also P.s there a title next to there name saying that their mute, block, or whatever to the muter know how they mute that person before, but this just what think anyway.

I think this is your first unedited thread I've ever seen. You were self confident this time, weren't you?
-
I think with that idea though, they'd have to tell you who muted you. Which is silly because it allows people who pay a small charge to get unmuted and target that user/those users. Freedom of speech is all fine and dandy until it imposes itself onto someone else's rights. Feel free to disagree, but I don't think that's a great idea.

I could really care less, I dont even mute people and people dont have a problem with me so yeah.

9 RepliesEdited by Cobravert: 3/4/2014 3:59:52 PMno Now, I would conversely propose that there would be a way for users to IP ban any constant troll, douches, just plain argumentative, simple minded 'know-it-alls' from their view PERMANENTLY. No alts would ever be able to circumvent the ban. THAT would be worth paying for. No one should ever have to put up with crap, badgering, or abuse that they do not want.

this idea is so bad i think it gave me cancer. do you think bungie would rather have a few extra bucks or a clean forum with no dick heads paying to ruin everyone elses time?
-
2 RepliesYou're bad, and you should feel bad. This will never become a thing.

1 ReplyWorst troll attempt so far.

While I see what you want to achieve, what you're basically proposing is a way for people to pay for the right to continue harassing someone.
-
People who rashly mute people aren't people who seem to be worth having a conversation with, so I don't understand why one would want to reverse that anyways.
-
You serious bro? This is the worst idea I've heard in a long time.
-
Look, man, nobody likes to pay for anything. The less people have to pay, the happier they'll be that day.
-
1 ReplyNo offense, but it looks like you want to put fees and payments on everything.

Best idea ever

I support this.

Edited by Torque: 3/6/2014 12:13:35 AMI like to think that there are never any truly bad ideas, just things some people aren't always comfortable with. Unfortunately this is one of the times where I'm gonna have to say bad idea. If I've muted someone I've done it for a reason, if someone chooses to mute you without going into a logical debate then what are you really losing? Another idiot who refuses to listen? Doesn't seem like a great loss to me and from what I understand some people have enough problems on here with trolling alts without them having the ability to remove that. If a person is muted 9/10 it's because they just don't want to see it. Paying to have mutes removed and then punishing the person who chose to ignore them is a completely backwards-ass idea and completely negates the point of having the system in the first place. Why would you want to come back to a site that actively promotes unblocking/unmuting/etc for a little ching ching? It'd just be a colossal d-move on Bungie's part. And while I'm assuming I'm wrong you basically started your thread out by saying (in one way) that you'd like this to be put in motion because people mute you. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say while you probably didn't aim to sound arrogant...you're kinda giving that impression.
Plus if you cannot handle it, you should probably take a break from the internet.
The exact same could be said about a person complaining about being muted.

people will be forced to learn how to ignore people
Like learning how to push the mute button?
which to be honest is a more valuable skill to learn, because you cannot "mute" people you do not like in real life.
Yes, you can, it's called walking away. I like the mute feature, and would not want to give an account holder a way around it.

Nah, if someone has muted me I either deserved it or they have a problem with me. I don't desire for them to have to see my posts.
