What's up with giving warlocks all these empty calorie buffs? Next to nothing they're changing affects what is actually bad about Warlocks.
Vortex nova bombs buffs are fine, but the buffs are more like fixes to make the vortex function work better rather than actual buffs the the super. There's still basically zero reason to chose vortex. It's damage is unchanged, and it doesn't apply any void effects like weakness or volatile, making it a strictly worse version of slova bomb, which is already a strictly worse version of nightstalker tether because tether both does more damage and applies 30% weakness as well. Chaos accelerant is the worst grenade buffing aspect in the game for no reason, requiring you to charge your grenades to get the enhanced effects, while solar warlock and arc titan just enhance their grenades automatically and it also only provides 1 fragment slot while both of the other aspects give 2 slots. The melee is also really pointless and should just have been the old middle tree void melee. Applying volatile is nice, but the projectile is really weak and the tracking ranges from non existent to turning 150 degrees and targeting something you aren't even looking at. Having no access to void overshields and access to invisibility limited to a single fragment that doesn't function in PvP at all is also a massive hinderance to voidlock in PvP. The other 2 void classes are both top tier, and we've all seen the numbers at this point of nightstalkers alone outnumbering all warlocks combined.
Solar. Solar. Bruh.
You guys seriously nerfed solar? The class who's only function is to be a well dog in raids? Starfire protocol with well is literally the only thing solar warlock is allowed to do. Granted, it's pretty good, but it's also handicapped by the fact that it only has one aspect since you gave solar warlock the 2 worst aspects in the game, heat rises and icarus dash. These aspects are beyond horrible, and even if they were combined into 1 aspect it still wouldn't be any good because it only benefits aerial combat, the worst stat and playstyle possible in the game. Heat rises lets you consume your god tier fusion grenade to hover slowly around the battlefield and have a bonus to in air accuracy. The dumbest stat in the game. That's so bad it's just insulting, it's an aspect that actively makes you worse just by equipping it, you might as well add a giant neon sign above the head of any warlock while they have heat rises active that says "I'm moving slowly in the air, please snipe me". Icarus dash is at least a neutral buff that give you a movement ability. Which is just a worse, aerial version of an ability that all hunters natively have. Except when hunters dodge they actually get bonus effects and have many exotics to boost their effects even further. Warlocks get a shorter cooldown and... rain of fire for auto reload and... that's it. Which is actually a lie because no warlock seriously uses rain of fire since starfire protocol is the only usable exotic for solar warlock. Phoenix dive 's cooldown is just way too slow for a single use ability, especially one that isn't all that good to begin with. And dawnblade, don't even get me started on dawnblade. It'll be faster to say what's good about it so I will. Nothing. If I have dawnblade equipped just take the super away entirely and give me another grenade charge.
Arc souls are the only thing actually getting a genuinely good buff. Being primarily tied to rift casts is still pretty bad, but at least they should actually be able to do more than tickle enemies in at level content. So good on that one, Bungie. Past that, more non buffs. Improved arc melees while amplified? Why? It's not even a buff to lightning surge, the new ability you just gave warlocks that's actually decently popular when stormcallers make their rare appearances. Why do you want arc warlock to melee things so badly when they've never been good at it and still aren't? Arc web was taken away for 3.0 and effectively given to titans, spawning the most bonkers GM destroying build the game has ever seen, meanwhile warlocks get lightning surge. For the third consecutive 3.0 rework warlocks were given a new melee ability that is nowhere near strong enough to justify using seriously. I know there are some cheesy PvP builds with surge and wave grenade launchers, and it's a decent aoe attack in PvE content that doesn't immediately kill you for getting into melee range, but all of that is irrelevant when titans can just lmao storm grenade and blow up entire rooms with one button. The supers are what really drags stormcaller down though. The base kit is serviceable, at least in at level or lower content, but both arc warlock supers suck hard. Chaos reach is objectively the worst dps super. it does relative damage to thundercrash and gathering storm while taking 5x the time to use. And that's ignoring the numerous nerfs chaos reach has received to it's cancel function and it's only accompanying exotic geomags. It at least at one point has the niche of being a fairly weak super that you could get really fast by canceling to start at half energy and getting the last chunk for free with geomags, but not anymore. Lowering the base cooldown of chaos reach is okay, but why not just undo some of the previous nerfs? It's already been established that base cooldowns on supers are mostly a nonfactor in comparison to participating in combat, so this is another buff that is largely empty calories. Stormtrance would be in contention for worst roaming super in the game if dawnblade didn't have a strangle hold on that spot, so instead it's just a weak roaming add clear super that isn't good at it's job because it doesn't do enough damage to kill any important targets.
Stasis is good. The super is pretty meh, but those turrets are awesome and the rest of the abilities are fine, so for now it doesn't need much attention.
Rift is still the worst class ability by a mile though. You have got to speed up the cast animation or let the buffs or rift itself roam with the warlock or something. Titans and hunters get to roam with whatever buffs their class abilities give them, but warlocks just don't get to while also receiving the weakest buffs. It's just objectively the weakest class ability.
