I don't see the relevance in the question you are asking.
Everyone has their opinion about whatever so opinions will vary. What I'm looking at is, what the OP suggested doesn't hurt anyone, and it boggles my mind how some would be so against something that would actually improve the experience for the players.
Is improving the players experience in this game a bad thing? because that is what everyone that disagrees with the option is presenting 🤷♂️

Just for the hell of it. Discard what reasons the OP posted this post for. Is adding optional matchmaking for content like dungeons, lost sectors, content like that a bad thing?
