Why is the destiny community so toxic now?

I’d like to say first off I bet everyone is gonna downvote this which will just prove my point. Seriously no one revives or answers my forum posts. They threaten to kick me from raids when I’m doing the 3rd most damage and doing everything right but they assume I’m not because I’m not talking on my mike because I prefer to concentrate on what I’m doing and only use it when it’s needed for fallouts and stuff. The last group I raided with was literally the most toxic I’ve ever come across. I was literally the only one opening portals and they’re mad because I’m not talking and threatening to kick me. I’m so done with this community. Y’all can eat a dick. Unless you are one of the nice ones. And bungie you need to add a dedicated bug report system because no one sees my posts.

  • Reasons 1. Because Bungo has created a culture of efficiency. We are encouraged by the developer to run things over and over again. People who get in the way of that "suck at D2". Additionally, because there is such an emphasis on repetition, people start playing this game like a job, so they can be more like the people who actually do get paid money to play the game (streamers). That's not how people are supposed to play video games, and the attitude reflects that. 2. Because every part of this game has its own little "in crowd", like the cool kids table in middle school lunch rooms. If you don't talk like them, use their strats, or bow down to them like gods, you "suck at D2". 3. Because hardly anyone realizes that stats in this game are useless nonsense. When you can six stack farm control against new lights and boost your KD spread, it gives people an inflated sense of ego. Stomping noobs doesn't make you good, but enough people think it does that it's become a way for people to measure their "skill". In reality, it's a torture score. Who can make the game the most miserable for those not in the in crowd. 4. Since people use this game as some sort of sick power fantasy, when they do get good enough, they use their accomplishments in this game as some ad hoc value measurement for their own life. That's very, very bad, and people are super toxic when they do it. "I've done more raids than you" is both a flex and a power move, like expecting sex because they bought you dinner. All the reasonable people left this game a long time ago, because at some point you just can't keep going at the pace the streamers demand Bungo make content. It's gross, tbh. Even now people in my clan have been doing lfg raids and they're bringing that attitude back into my discord where I have to shut it down. Telling people their call outs for raids are flawed and wrong because it's not what some dude with a thousand clears uses is like upper level stupid.
