I’m a day 1 D1 player. Played everyday until I quit 1 year ago. How’s destiny looking these days? Worth getting back into?

No one can answer this question for you. Just play the game a bit and see for yourself.

1 ReplyHaha don’t ask on this forum....all you will get is negativity, toxicity and nothing useful 👍

This season was arguably Bungie’s best work storywise in a long time. Don’t know how it’ll play out now but it was one hell of a ride week after week.
-
Sadly no ....
-
1 ReplyIf you have friends/clanmates to raid with, yes. If you're purely solo, no.
-
1 ReplyYes you must start playing immediately.
-
1 ReplyIt's free to play, why would you need to ask people you don't know
-
3 RepliesIt’s honestly pretty enjoyable for me, PvP and PvE.
-
3 RepliesAbsolutely yes. Some cool unique missions. The raid is great. Sunsetting is gone and the new weapons/perks this year are fun.

1 ReplyEdited by TheArtist: 4/15/2021 11:37:01 AMPVE? The game is in best shape its been in for years....and is heading in a very good direction. The game still has issues----lack of loot, a broken progression system, a weapon system that needs to be overhauled, and light subclasses that need buffed (especially for Warlocks----but no game is perfect and Bungie has been moving to fix most of these. All these issues are holdovers from the catastrophically bad design choices that were baked into vanilla D2. Also Bungie has publicly committed to supporting this game for at least the next three years (through two more expansions, and an unnamed third one.) Stasis (new Darkness based subclass) is the best new subclass added to this game since D1 Stormtrance. (Which is why the Light subclasses need buffs). Stasis has also seen a return of being able to CUSTOMIZE your subclass builds by mixing-and-matching your abilities (Aspects and Fragments) in an elegantly simple way that is similar to the mod system in Armor 2.0 Bungie caved on sunsetting, so there is a temporary band-aid on the lack of loot problems, but the nerfs to control power creep are coming back and the player complaints with it. But all in all, if you really love Destiny PVE, this is an EXCELLENT time to jump back in. As most people agree, that this is the best season in the game since the one that gave us Menagerie. Deep Stone Crypt is a good raid...and the weapons you get are worth the time and effort to get good rolls on them. PVP? Wellllllllll.....that's a different story..... Bungie has clearly (and correctly imo) shifted the focus of the game from PVP (which was the nearly fatal mistake of vanilla D2) to PVE. But this has left PvP directionless...and at odds with the identity of the game as an "action MMO." Trials is a mess....is slowly dying...and needs ANOTHER major overhaul. Bungie is flailing at trying to control the cheating, and the loot system is a disaster. Giving average players NO reason to bother showing up to play, and therefore the playlist no way to maintain adequate numbers to work well. Gambit is Gambit. You either love it or hate it. But Gambit and Prime were condensed into a single play mode with arguably the best features of both. It needs some more tweaking...and skill matching. However, Bungie doesn't seem to want to commit any resources to it. Regular Crucible hasn't seen any new maps or playmodes in who-knows how long. Stasis has been extremely polarizing. As a D1 vet, you played in a Crucible with strong abilities...so you would probably adapt pretty quickly. But the D2-only players who have only known a Crucible with the watered down abiltiies of D2 Crucible are struggling in the face of having to confront an ability that will not allow you to play your way out of mental mistakes. They are howling....and the salt is ENDLESS. Iron Banner? Has been left to wither on the vine. From lack of support. They've added a freelance playlist to try to control the roflstomping that resulted from CBMM, stacked teams and the lockout mechanic. But the game play still sucks. The mercy rates are still laughably high....and the loot is an absolute joke. Which Bungie tries to hide by shoving mountains of it at you. But to the veteran player its still junk, and there is no reason to play it except to get Pinnacle drops and high-stat armor. ...and there are far less aggravating ways to get those in the game now. In short, Iron Banner needs to be given the Trials treatment. Taken out of the game, and rebuilt from the ground up. But there is no indication as to whether Bungie will ever do that. TLDR: If you're PVE-focused player? Come back and dive in. I think you'll be happy you did. If you're a PVP focused player? You might want to walk up to the edge and dip your toe in....and see what you think. But I can't reccomend that any lapsed PvP player come back. Destiny 2's Pvp is---imo---an inferior product and doesn't meet an acceptable standard for a Triple A game at this point. ...and its not clear what Bungie is planning to do---if anything----about it.

Not for pvp
-
If you play as a hunter this game is catered specifically for you, if not the game is rickety as yoga balls.

1 ReplyIt's fun from a casual perspective. I was more dedicated with D1 but now the endgame is just not worth it imo. I don't recognize any real incentive or difference in power/capability than a causal player. Very few perks are endgame specific and those that are, are very niche in their use. And that's directed mainly towards Adept weaponry for their specific activities. Though the newest raid legendaries have some neat perks, they're not particularly game changing tbh.

It’s p good nowadays.

i think destiny2 is in a good place right now, since sunsetting yoinked the majority of gear it feels more like a second or third dlc of a new game (loot wise) for better or worse. Its not a bad time to join but you will be grinding a bit to buy all the exotics you missed. Stasis is also a big shake up if you haven’t seen it yet, moreso on the bad side.
-
It's like being " the skinniest fat girl in a fat girl contest." Is it better than last couple seasons? ...yeah ! Was that hard to top ? ....no !
-
No. Just don't. With all of the felwinter's and bad class balancing it's not worth it.
-
2 RepliesNot alt all. Check out Outriders instead

I am also a day 1 D1 player. I never stopped. I believe Destiny is better now than it has ever been. I love it! My only complaint is being slowed and frozen in crucible. I do a lot of privates
-
Its better than vanilla that's for sure

There’s only one way to find out. Jump back in and see if you enjoy it. If not, then go back to other games. Most of the members on this forum are not the ones you want to listen to unfortunately.

I'm a hardcore now but played back on D1 beta too. The game is much more complex. So if you liked the game for its simplicity... No I don't. Its grindy like it was in the old days but not in a way that made it as amazing to get rare stuff back then. That said the activities are a lot more engaging theres more types of weapons blah blah. If you like that give it a try. :)
