Veterans I need some help here...

So I’m planning on joining the military in around 18 months and need some tips on how to prepare for boot camp. Also thank you for your service, God bless ya.
The Veggie has spoken
• Starting off it'll be a shock with things happening very quickly making getting a grasp of the situation confusing. Just consider the day of leaving for basic training as the start of it, not when you get there. Aside from the obvious physical preparations you should start preparing mentally. You are going to have to start paying extra attention to detail. Drill sergeants are so nitpicky over everything, from dust to how things line up with each other. They demand nothing short of perfection and perfection is in the details. Also, as a heads up, you are going to get yelled at alot. Yelled at for legit screw ups, tiny imperfections with you're area, and sometimes for things that you didn't do or weren't even aware of. Always remember to listen carefully when given orders and follow them as instructed. It's ok to ask questions, but don't make it a habit.

  • Start endurance strength training. You'll need it more than burst strength training.

Work out before leaving, don't expect boot camp to get you into perfect shape for your position. Make sure you're enlisting into the specific branch and the specific job you want. You don't want to be stuck with an MOS you hate or in the wrong branch for a 3 to 8 year contract. Make sure you're medically fit for military service. I was booted because of a prior medical issue and I kinda lied to get in anyways so... don't make the same mistake I did. Edit: what branch and job are you hoping to enlist in?

        • Start by retracting your agreement to go, if you can.
