In most recent updates new gear and weapons have been added into that game, which is a good thing, however the way they are added and how they want you to acquire them is questionable. Quest-lines are monotonous, boring, and unnecessary. is little to no challenge present within them and this is where the main problem arises. Quests expect you to indulge them with many hours of unnecessary playtime that has remained consistent since year 1. Its my hope and wish that this type of quest gets looked at and reworked because as of right now players are growing ever more frustrated.
To get new gear in destiny a new quest or activity is released that allows you to do what it dictates and get said gear, but with the past few updates quests seem to be slowing down and mainly just filler. Making it clear i'm not complaining there's not enough time in the day to complete these or casual players have no place in the game, i'm just poking at the redundant way quests are being structured. Looking and the most recent being solstice it offers little content other than armor and a new area, this lack of content is hidden behind massive waves of mediocrity. Justifiably the EAZ is a solid area and really fun to play, but they quickly ruin it by making players who want the gear to delve into its repetitive nature for hours which kills its novelty almost on release. Those who want the armor it requires you to play gamemodes and complete tasks that players have been playing and completing since they released. This constant repetition and forcing players into old content disguised as new content kills the game making it job like.
On top of quests being boring and frustrating, the quests have no challenge whatsoever. The quest for solstice armor is not even challenging just monotonous and redundant. When bungie described their game as no longer being for average players what me and many thought was the games difficulty was going to spike and getting gear would be harder and more rewarding, much like whisper and outbreak. Instead from whats been seen so far there is no difficulty and only hours of repetition and "go here" "collect that" this type of quest is what makes the game so unfun. Its bluntly obvious time filler quests conveniently right before shadowkeep releases. Overall i hope this type of quest doesnt carry over to future destiny due to how destructive these types of quests are.
EDIT: rewrote due to missunderstanding

Hardcore in D2 means huge grind. Something I like to hear:
Deal with it!
-
If you think the grind is bad just now, wait until Shadowkeep drops.

I have a 50 hour a week job and have no problems "keeping up". If you wait for the 80 percent discount the Juju wasn't expensive at all. Whisper and Outbreak were great, people still complained about them and a lot of people wouldn't have then if they didn't exploit the timer. Juju quest was neat but borig, no way to fail made it boring.

Edited by Carbiniz3r: 8/1/2019 7:52:12 PMi work 40 hours a week and am on call after hours with a six year old son, still find the time to play and im nearly done with blue solstice armor....i have no idea what you are griping about unless you work like 60 hour weeks, otherwise thats your fault then

They’re all optional Bungie isn’t putting a gun to your head and forcing you to do anything particularly for the summer solstice it’s purely cosmetic and doesn’t give anyone an unfair advantage
-
11 RepliesYou literally can take a week getting a character finished. I know I’ll finish two characters this weekend. Y’all just don’t efficiently grind
-
I’m coming from the future to tell your that is the event has been extended to 3 more weeks
-
Bungie cater for hardcore, they don’t care about the masses
-
I just dropped redrix... it’s taken steady progress from when the quest dropped until a few days ago. Don’t need everything immediately.

4 RepliesEdited by BoldFaceChimp: 8/1/2019 6:55:56 PMOhhh my god so now there is too much content... Close these Poxy Forums down Bungie please

You can relax somewhat, you got til mid September to complete what you need

9 RepliesPointless drawn out "quests" do not appeal to hardcore players. Only difference is that they have the time to do it. But noone is jumping up & down for 20 gambit matches, 20 strikes, 100 mini-bosses, 1500 orbs here, 1000 orbs there, 300 orbs everywhere & 75 Arc weapon Crucible kills. The only thing a quest like this tests is my patience.

I try to squeeze out as much as I can in the time I get to play after work. I try to multitask as much as I can. Get the patrols done, while working on a weapon frame from Ada, while getting the Heroic public events done, while getting the solar melee kills I need. While I was doing the gambit portion I had as much Opulence gear on as I could so I was also working on the Triumph for the tribute hall and whatever other bounties from as many vendors as I could at the same time. I dont know if I'll get all 3 characters to legendary but I'm going to focus on my main for now and see how it goes.

like i know they said the quests are going to appeal to more "hardcore" players but i thought that would mean tasks that are challenging unique not just mind numbing grind, the outbreak perfected and whisper quests are good examples of what i feel like is good quest design. The most recent updates brought back bad juju which was just buying shit over and over running out of materials then doing it again, though the mission at the end of the quest to actually get the gun was fun its still kinda ridiculous. Same kinda goes for solstice armor like its -blam!-ing ludicrous even if you manage your time well and are efficient with your completions. I really enjoy destiny but because of real life circumstances its really hard to keep up with these types of quest tropes they've been using with recently, me and many other players are sharing the same frustrations of quests that only reward massive play time and mindless grind. i hope bungie looks at a different approach to their upcoming quests to make them fair yet not dumbed down. i guess the point of this is i should be enjoying the game, this is just 9 to 5 the game at this point. edit: People really seem to be missing the point im trying to maker here. I am not complaining that the game doesnt cater to "casual" players enough or that we dont have enough time to finish quests do to work, my point is that these new quests are not fun and reallly scummy and selfish on bungies part. clearly the grind that you have to take part in is insane causal or not and its just filler to create false content to extend playtime in while shadowkeep is in the works. i mean lets take a look and the bad juju quest and soulstice how much content did they bring about in reality? hardly any other than a new area to grind in and hours completing "collect this" "go here" "play 10 of these". once again bungie doesnt need to appeal to casual players they need to stop this trend of falsely extending out gameplay to get playtime from players.
Your work schedule is not their problem...

You don't need to finish everything as soon as its released. Just play as close to normal as you can and complete stuff as it happens. The game is more fun for me when it happens organically instead of trying to grind

Edited by W33DEDPLAGUE: 8/1/2019 7:25:59 PMI have a full time job, two kids and a wife, and other responsibilities, and I keep up fine. The event is a month long for a reason. I've been doing my bounties a day for the Juju catalyst and it will probably take another few weeks to get to max...but I'll get there. They aren't designing activities that are supposed to be grinded 8 hours a day for a week, they are designing long-term goals that require you to continually play a little here and there every week. The problem is people feel like they need to do these things immediately, when that just isn't the case. These challenges are available forever, so you can get to them at your leisure. I get an hour or two per night before bed, 5 nights a week and I don't see an issue. But I also haven't been diagnosed with FOMO, like so many others. It isn't Bungie's concern whether you have time because of your job or not, honestly, they are just trying to design the best game they can for their player base. It's only been 2 or 3 days, we still have several weeks left to do the armor. Multi-tasking and being efficient can go a long way.

Edited by PilksUK: 8/1/2019 12:17:31 PMYep Grind for the sake of grind is the laziest and cheapest way to extend gameplay Destiny 2 is just has bad as Korean/Asian f2p MMO's when it comes to pointless grind at least those games your normally grinding for crafting stuff to achieve an endgoal but in Destiny its just all pointless resource sinks to tick a box.

1 ReplyThey don't. This is for the Streamers - the lucky <1% Bungie always listens too. People with jobs, families, lives and obligations are not supposed too.
-
2 RepliesSo I agree with much (if not all you are saying). I work full time, have four kids and it's literally impossible to keep up with content and collect everything, which is what I love to do. That being said, Destiny has become the franchise I love playing because of the progression. So I had to come to the realization that I simply can't collect and complete everything they throw at us. And that is OK. Focus on the things I enjoy, spend time with friends I like to talk to, and don't feel like I have to complete everything. Sometimes if there is something I really want (Bad Juju for example), I'll prioritize certain activities and forego other stuff. For example, pinnacle weapons. If it's a weapon that I'll use regularly, make that pinnacle quest my priority. If not, it's OK for me not to chase it. Ultimately, I want to go an inch wide and a mile deep with my character creation instead of a mile wide and an inch deep in collecting everything. Not preaching, just offering a different perspective :-)
-
2 RepliesI also don't mind a grind. Many days thats all I want to do. BUT THIS, this is no grind this is a Sisyphusian Dante's Inferno 2.0. If we had more then a shorted month then maybe, But for me its grind the hell out of it for my Warlock, then if I get done with normal play on my Titan great. My Hunter (and I think Hunters have the best armor) is totally screwed. And the whole time I'll be pissed and -blam!- about it. MAYBE if the EAZ had something of real value to it, loot wise, then???? But the boxes are all scrap rare fodder, with a rare occasional e-core.
-
That reminds me......I am almost done the Wendigo grind.
-
Sounds like you don’t want to put in time? Ummm too bad
-
I have a job. I’m doing fine.
-
Completely agree. It's really ridiculous.

They don't

Edited by Smough: 8/1/2019 6:42:56 PMPlay when you have time and understand that you may not be able to do everything in game? This event is going to last weeks, you have more than enough time even if you only play 30 minutes a day.
