This isn’t a shit post. It’s just a... sad realization post.
I finally got the hunter legs from CoS this week, but it means nothing. I’ll only get to use them for a few more weeks before they’re left behind and I delete them.
Last time it happened with EP armor and Solstice armor.
When Curse of Osiris came out I quit this game for months, but I came back with Forsaken. I’ve taken breaks and whatnot, but I’ve generally enjoyed this game ever since. But, I just have that feeling again... why keep playing this game when loot just doesn’t matter and my time gets crapped on?
I think the changes being made to armor are good for the game, but I think Bungie should have done more to make sure our vault wasn’t wiped out again. They should have made all year 2 armor available as ornaments.
Even the cabal only destroyed our vaults once, Bungie. This is your second time in 2 years.
Edit: thanks for all the bumps. It would be cool if Bungie saw this and worked on getting all armor brought forward to 2.0. If they can turn all Eververse armor into ornaments, maybe they can do the same with all armor.
-
1 ReplyAm I missing something, bungie it's making our armor lose it's perks or anything, they're just implementing a new system that will allow you to get better perks. Alongside the eververse changes, you'll get better armor that looks awesome in shadow keep, why are people mad, or have I missed something?
-
If they can turn all Eververse armor into ornaments, maybe they can do the same with all armor.
Hmmm.....I thought they were. Is it only Eververse??
-
3 RepliesThat is a norm for loot based games. What would be nice is transmog.
-
Were not losing our armor lol .. The tower will he destroyed in d3 and well be OK because we have a vault on the leviathan
-
If destiny had transmog, like almost every other mmo that hits the reset button on gear, it wouldn’t be so bad which is why people likely don’t have as much as an issue with it in games that have transmog. But in destiny, all that grinding you did actually becomes a worthless waste of time with absolutely nothing to show for it once the next big dlc releases. So basically what I’m saying is that bungie needs to add full transmog instead of the eververse only thing they will be doing.
-
I understand your position, but from my perspective it’s exciting to know that there will be even BETTER options for your gear come September. Destiny is a game of iteration, and sometimes that means leaving past content behind. I’m sure your legs are still going to be viable, at least until you get a similar role but with armor 2.0 options open. Hopefully new gear from SoO can drop with armor 2.0.
-
Welcome to the jaded gamers corner. I had this sad realization when the Burning Crusade was announced back in World of Warcraft. It's not all bad, new gear, weapons and hopefully ability changing perks on gear will help alleviate the loss in what you have earned so far.
-
Honestly don’t listen to all the people telling you to delete your characters if you feel that way or to leave as no one cares, honestly to me your making the right choice. I played D1 since it’s alpha and loved it. I played some of D2 until Black armory, and just one day right when Black armory launched while losing up the game I finally snapped. I threw my controller on the ground and uninstalled D2 and quit and honestly it’s better cause D2 even now just feels soulless in comparison to D1.
-
This is actually so true (unfortunately) as I’ve literally grinded so much to get perfect god rolled armour with enhanced perks that I want on all except arms but now all that will be pointless and for shadowkeep I’ll have to do some stupid grind to unlock what we would once get for free most likely knowing Bungie who tbh don’t really read these and when they do the kinda just read it and don’t process it
-
I'm alright with it, my guns are far more important to me and as far as I know weapon's are remaining the same so I can still keep all my year 2 favorites without being less effective.

3 RepliesEdited by Kouz_MC: 7/29/2019 7:24:05 AMYou must be new to destiny? Several million players, or 90% of the playerbase, left almost 2 years ago mainly bc of that, massively disappointing market expectations, forcing the world leading video game publisher, for who Bungie was just a tiny tiny component, down several tens of percentage and eventually parting ways to stop the bloodbath. Some like me came back a few months ago when the game was sold altogether for $39, but most of us haven’t pre ordered and won’t. Damn so many players who haven’t stopped playing during all this time haven’t pre ordered. Our return was long planned and defined, yet Bungie has been misinterpreting it. In fact we will buy the next content when we know what it really encompasses, and when it will be on sale, with boosters, and after every crap nerf or the like joke Bungie is keeping as content will be already in the game. Certainly not pre ordering following another of Bungie’s fallacious pre release vidoc. If anything that video and their dumb finisher moves killed any interest. You also have to know that Bungie’s rng tries to normally distribute missing collectibles over a period of time that is a function of your average daily hours played to the product life cycle, so the more you break your gaming cycles, the more you will get rewarded when you return. And what does Luke SMITH said he wants this game to become: “we want destiny to grow into a collectibles game”, so let’s just take it for what it is defined as and try to earn everything the fastest and cheapest, every content offered is just cyclotomic anyway, and right the only thing that keeps players in is friendship, which bungie likes to severe anyway. The fact is Bungie isn’t getting enough pre orders, that’s why they’re betting everything on eververse and online store.

Edited by Dicehunter: 7/29/2019 10:51:53 AMThey need to bring in a transmog system like WoW has or even Star Wars The Old Republic has, It works great, Lets you equip really good statted armour and then if you want you can wear any previously collected armour from your collections tab, Wear all vanilla raid gear for the actual appearance if you want as it's entirely up to the player. But, From the time I started playing D2 on PC I have come to the conclusion, So have many others, That Bungies decisions mainly seem to be very hostile towards their player base, Especially considering some of the armour and weapons are a very unpleasant grind to get, And this is coming from someone who Played Final Fantasy XI Online and Star Wars Galaxies. I don't know who they have at Bungie that seems to have such a hostile mindset that makes these decisions but it needs to stop as it's ruining what could otherwise be a fantastic atmosphere.

3 RepliesThe incentive to keep playing is gone. Why try to stay current with the game with each expansion when everything you got previously is now worthless. And anything you get now will be worthless next season.
-
Edited by Collins9875: 7/29/2019 7:20:30 PMI'm annoyed with it. I grinded and finally got a complete set of armor for PvE that all the perks match, goes together, and works.... Bungie: Screw your time and effort. Oh well, back to War Thunder. At least Gaijin, for as greedy as they are, doesn't reset my Tech Tree.

Seeing the direction this game is going, it makes me realize that d2 just isn’t a game for me. I don’t mind a grind if the rewards are worth it, but seeing how all the gear now has a ‘best by’ date on there, the rewards really are not worth it to me. I loved d1, I have a lot of hours in that game. I picked up d2 when forsaken was on sale for 39.99. I wish I could say I got my money out of it. I played thru forsaken 1 time and tried again with a second guardian but I got bored with it really fast. It looks like the game is just a constant grind, with little to no story in the game, which is not fun for me. I really see no reason to grind up until shadowkeep and don’t really see it improving after . I’ll likely still play d1 since I enjoy that game. I think I am done with d2. I see why they did not hype this release as much as they hyped up others, seeing as there really isn’t a whole lot of new content in it

2 RepliesI don't understand how people can be concerned about armor when there's bigger issues at hand....Like the moon being haunted and all.
-
Shadowkeep just means another season of pinnacle weapons.....armor is mostly cosmetic anyway.
-
6 RepliesOh, no! The new armor will be better than the old armor!? I can’t believe I’m gonna have to play the game and get new stuff. This is absolutely ridiculous to ask of people to do in a video game! I don’t normally like to post things like this...but seriously guys?
-
3 RepliesRemember when people whined about random rolls when it made weapons outdated, and then quickly realized that they didn't care because the new ones were so much better and were (mostly) pretty straightforward to get? $50 says it happens again with Armor 2.0
-
4 RepliesFirstly armor 2.0 gives us greater customisation when it comes to perks and mods Secondly, they currently list most eververse armor to be transmogable, with more armor sets to come, this doesn't rule out armor sets like the y2 raid sets, im pretty sure they will be brought forward to, as will gambit prime sets and what not, the list is small to start with but will grow. Your armor is not going to invalidated it will still be usable with all its current perks, just currently not available to transmog. SoH y2 set will be our first armor 2.0 set we get, for me, i prefer this set to most others and it shows that bungie DOES care about our time in the grind, with the data mined quest steps, it seems its going to require the same commitment as last years to max it out, and the fact i get to carry that through to start y3, is perfect

Edited by Cudd1eZombi3: 7/29/2019 7:43:27 PMWould be awesome if they make all armour into ornaments for armour 2.0 as this will help introduce more rpg elements to the game. Plus it does suck that a lot of the armour we got and loved is now completely pointless. Yes new gear is always nice, would just be nice if you could use a mix of armour instead of stuff becoming redundant every season.

Edited by BrinedPencils: 7/29/2019 7:39:55 PMTo be fair most armor in this game don't have too much sentimental value, at least for me. Every expansion that comes out, it feels like hey something new to wear. It's kinda like when you wake up to put on clothes and you put something different on not because you don't want to look boring but you have different types of moods for what you want to wear. The new armor 2.0 is supposed to replace that care about old gear and move forward on better mechanics for the game to feel better at a price of not having too many items. The thing to solve this IMO is to make all year 1 and 2 armor become ornaments so we don't have to wear them. The game is going to be pretty big and Bungie even knows that if they add more and more items they will have the game to be too big and can be close to console load times for inventory or vaults. It's just a limitation of the engine and needs to be updated to a better version. Which is why this type of system is happening, because the engine IS limited. We can't have over 2,000 items in our vault otherwise it'll use up a lot of PC resources. When Destiny 3 comes out we will definitely get a better engine and game not only because it's sensical but Bungie has no choice but to move forward with a better game sequel. Activision lives under the idea invest less get more. You can say the game has a lot of money spent but where do you think all of that money went to? Advertising, sponsorships, ect. It's just the simple fact that Activision wanted to pull a Call of Duty with Destiny by barely upgrading it so they can sell it back to you again. Bungie, now by themselves, has to come up with a way to fix their game and problems that were limited by Activision. People think it's Bungie's fault for everything but the way Destiny was built was by Activision's money alone to get it started so keep in mind what devs can do without AAA companies help. I'll give you a hint, not much. Without Activision's money Bungie wouldn't have been able to make Destiny. Bungie, the same people who created Halo, even had to leave so they could keep making Halo and guess what, not great sequels. Bungie is now just a publisher's name to a company that split from what we knew was Bungie that made Halo. Now it's a company of lots of people trying to make Destiny.

33 RepliesWhat armor are we losing? From the sounds of it they're bringing a lot of(if not all) the Y1 and Y2 armor up to the Armor 2.0 stuff. Can we stop with this stupid speculation in these forums. You guys love riding the hate train rather than waiting a week or a few to find out MORE on Shadowkeep as they told us they would talk about as Solstice of Heroes comes along. Patience. Learn it.
-
1 Replydeal with it and suck it up
-
2 RepliesTell me about it. I just spent the precious cores to masterwork my favorite gear set for two of my three characters. Then I find that shit out. Feels bad man.
-
5 RepliesSomebody please post that quote by Deej where he talks about how they want to respect the time we've invested and gear we've accumulated.
