A middle ground needs to be found. Raid exotics should be given to players who prove that they deserve the weapon, not through getting a lucky drop, but by completing a difficult quest. Outbreak prime and touch of malice are how raid exotics should drop.
Edit: I usually get angry enough at RNG to make this post once a month, but never before has it gained any ground. Thank you to all that support the ideas and even pitched their own.

7 RepliesThis is exactly what happened during year 1 of D1. The weapon in question back then? Ghjallarhorn. Thousands of posts were made I dont get it I dont get it I have done a lot and I never get it people would say. What happened? Well the Ghjallarhorn became a quest and now everyone had it. The important question is. What is more fun? A To get a somewhat nerfed exotic through a quest and have little fun with it because it is certainly not outstanding anymore since everyone will have it. Or B Have the weapon to drop suddenly from any other activity with that element of surprise and create unforgetable moments of obtaining it while the weapon is still powerful? 1k voices is a very powerful weapon. If it is made more accesible just as this post is requesting most likely the weapon will be nerfed and just like the Ghally it will not be as much fun to use anymore. Because Gjhallarhorn year 1 was way more fun to use than Gjhallarhorn year 3.

10 Replieshow about: -rng based -increases chances as completions go -worlds first/first 24 hours guaranteed -flawless run guaranteed -catalyst then tied to a quest related to the raid once you get the weapon.
-
1 ReplyMeet in the middle... the more you run it the higher your chances until it’s an inevitable drop.
-
3 RepliesNo. Exotics are supposed to be rare.
-
Raid quests > RNG

2 RepliesRaid exotics ain’t even that good there is other stuff i would rather use

4 RepliesEdited by bronze189: 7/5/2019 6:08:33 AMBungie - Sooo instead of RNG raid exotic drops with a 1% chance we should do the option that is objectively better and requires intelligence, skill, and teamwork? (One week later) Patch notes - we heard your feedback and decided to remove your guardians knees. It was not our intention to have guardians with bendable knees and originally intended for them to run and walk like they are on stilts. It was a very difficult decision to make as that morning i had to choose between frosted flakes and fruity pebbles for my breakfast and i was already stressed. I can understand if players are angry and want it put back but lol it funny so we are keeping it.

8 RepliesI am ok with raid exotic drops being rng if there was some kind of protection system. For example, the raid exotic would be an automatic drop on your 30th full raid completion if you have not been blessed by rng yet. Still grindy enough to satisfy the a lot of hardcores and you feel a sense of progress if you don't get it to drop before. I am grinding for the Anarchy myself, but there is no sense of progress upon completion of the raid. This is where I feel Bungie could do better in making players feel that their game time is valued and appreciated.

Acrius was a raid quest but if memory serves right they switch to rng raid exotics because too many people complained about having to run the raids multiple times to get it.
-
Acrius from OG Leviathan.. I loved how that was done for a raid exotic.
-
I agree. Those weapons even required you to raid again. Maybe tie some steps to raid challenges.

4 Replies14 crown of sorrows still no Tarrabah, I'm being a sherpa to people who arent good and they get it on their first run ever of the raid, and they barely did anything throughout the entire raid. I'm not being a sherpa no more
-
1 ReplyRaid loot is garbage these days. No raid quest, no unique raid weapon perks (not like you'd get them anyway, because raid weapons are just randomly rolled shit now), the raid perks that exist don't come with the armor but are instead randomly dropped mods. Raids are absolute garbage in D2 in terms of rewards.
-
Still don’t have 1k voices but then again I don’t do lw enough
-
Honestly, I'd be fine with the removal of all rng.

1 Replyhell no

1 ReplyI have to agree. Me and my raid team have complete who knows how many runs of Last Wish. 4 out of 6 of us have gotten 1k Voices to drop, and one of those four has had it drop 3 times. I just don't run that raid anymore because I'm fed up of having nothing of value to show for it now.
-
1 ReplyYeah RNG is killing one guy in my group. We Sherpa people though raids and every time at leaste one or two first timers get a raid exotic. Him with 30+ completions never got 1k voices. I have had two drop now and it's kind of sad at this point. And I only have 16 or so runs. At some point RNG feels like a middle finger.
-
2 RepliesGot 1k Voices first run Problem ? But you’re right , while outbreak and TOM were tied behind lengthy quests , that’s “ top teir “ so to speak should be acquired .... RNG Is balls .... just not when it comes to 1k
-
I think exotics along with all the gear should be acquired by doing a quest. To make it so you can grind for the gear you want from it.
-
Yeah I'd much rather prefer a quest over a random drop.... I'd also take say 20 clears and it's a guranteed drop over a random drop.. i'm getting close to 60 scorge completions and no anarchy... there isn't anything left for me to learn in that raid... pretty much long past having any desire to participate in that raid.

2 RepliesEdited by Infamous067: 7/6/2019 12:40:24 AMAnyone that defends rng over an exotic that only drops after the completion of a raid is stupid. Some people will never have the chance to even get the exotics because they cant even do a raid or finish it. I would make it so finishing the raid the first time is a guaranteed drop, doing the heroic version of the raid grants the catalyst guaranteed. Before you guys go, “whats the reason of doing the raid anymore????” To answer the question is really simple, doing raids should grant players a lot more unique and powerful mods that can be applied to armors and weapons. Its not that hard to also give players higher level loot in case they haven’t reached max light. Just like earning pinnacle weapons bungie should make raid only pinnacle weapons that only activate its perks during raids and pve activities. Whats that? You are asking for players to grind for pve stuff? What about pvp? How can we pvp weebs stay relevant on crucible? Pinnacle sniper is not good enough! Is it so hard for bungie to bring back trials? Give players weapons and armors that only work on pvp, give them something unique and worth the grind. The destiny community is full of ideas and the developers can easily pick whatever they want from the forums and shape the game however they want.

8 RepliesMethods I’d be cool with 1. Guaranteed drop if completed flawless 2. After reaching a certain amount of clears (30-50) 3. A quest after first completion
-
Honestly, I would've preferred an exotic quest like the Legend of Acrius had. Then I could confidently say that I earned and worked for the gun beyond just getting lucky and having RNG give me it.

4 RepliesRaid exotics should stay rng, just like they have always been. Should Bungie add a reward system for sherpas or the like players who support the community? Yes. Players who guide others through raids should receive tokens that grant them the right to buy a specific weapon from that raid. I had my first fatebringer at my 47 VoG clear, I carried tens of level 30 in the VoG whilst I was going to fetch the shield alone with my level 29 warlock before Crota released. It clearly pissed me off to see many players loot the Vex or Fatebringer in my face when they were mainly staying put, but my pleasure was playing the raid. In D2, the raids are largely crap so I understand why many don’t want to run them every week, but then again it’s a raid quality issue, and none of the raid loots are worth. Surely the 1000 voice do some damage, but it’s mainly a collectible. Nothing more. Last but not least, ToM was a very annoying weapon since 99% of the community believed that it was best or simply a must. It made running Oryx with randoms boring af. In fact what happened when the bubble got nerfed? All those scrubs went to watch their favorite imaginary boyfriend in the search for the next 60iq meta, and all those who were feeling frustrated by ToM finally enjoyed this raid with whatever loadout they enjoyed. Raid exotics are not always good.
