Even so, thats suppose to make it ok? Time gated things like this are the worst. Its lame that we wait a few weeks into this event just to get the quest, buy 10 engrams from the cryptarch and your progress is placed on hold. A quest for a weapon most players have had already in D1.

Whisper is timegated, Wish Ender is time gated, Polaris Lance was timegated, But for some reason, THIS was what set the community off? I bet it was the hype.

I bet it was the hype.[/quote] Whisper you gain progress as you do the weekly stuff for the catalyst and there is also the ship that you can go and collect. Wish Ender was released 3 weeks after the raid was completed most people were still not ready to raid by that time and were definitely not ready for The Shattered Throne. Polaris Lance was time gated but at least each nascent dawn didn't take 2 minutes to complete unlike the shoot 10 fallen in the EDZ quest.

It’s because this was hyped as part of the Halloween event that ends in one week. So it’s understandable for people to be annoyed if it ends up being a weekly thing.

Edited by Reduxred: 10/30/2018 8:38:39 PMI was not a fan of those being time gated like that either but at least Whisper was fun and Wish Ender was also fun because the dungeon is pretty cool and being the highest difficulty in the game in terms of light levels, most players would not be at the recommended light level anyways by the time that rolled around. Polaris I did not like how long that took to finish that quest. If this festival quest was introduced in week 1 of the event, fine. But to have players wait until the last week of the event just to wait another couple of weeks is not fun. Litterally we buy 10 engrams from cryptarch, cash them in and its done. Kinda boring.........

Yet time gating literally is in every single modern MMO and/or MMO hybrid. You can't have a living game without time gating items. WoW does it. Division did it. Every live service game has time gating and seasonal items. Please understand what time gating actually is and don't sit there and spread ignorance.

I am pretty sure there is a difference between time gating items or content, and time gating quest steps. I don't understand how you think time gating helps a game stay alive either. Whether they let me log in and do this new quest now, or once a week 3 times, it will still take the same amount of time. I can spend 3 hours up front, or 1 hour 3 times throughout 3 weeks. A game either has enough to actually sustain it, or it doesn't. Destiny is one of those games that doesn't have content good enough to sustain it. So they pull crap like this and artificially extend play time by time gating leveling. I would rather Bungie make the power level 10,000 and let me play as much as I want still making progress if they are so afraid people will stop playing once they have hit max -- which a lot already have.

Does not make it right. Lmao oh what is time gating exactly? Time gating is nothing but a way to ensure players are hopping on each time the next part of the quest triggers. Its pointless and a bit lazy especially for a weapon we already had in D1. I personally am not a fan of time gating quests.

You must get mad you don't get paid every day you work and have to wait until pay day to get paid then. If we even do get thunderlord, you're getting a free exotic machine gun that's not even technically in the game before black Armoury. You must have hated the whisper quest too because you had to wait to get it as well. Time gating is the way to prolong a products life by allowing for time to perfect dlc, stage challenge in tiers to allow for certain players to reach a certain milestone, and of course make sure people cannot burn through their game in a week (like destiny vannila did). But you won't listen because your ignorant.

These are all -blam!-ing opinions. WOW has been out since 2004 and there are still -blam!-ing items that people haven't gotten due to rarity and seasonal time gates. I used an easy comparison because it is obvious you're emotionally motivated in this. You give no supporting statements other than "this is what I feel".
